We are a non-partisan political movement with the main objective of righting a wrong that has been a huge misconception in the Ghanaian political landscape; People of Northern descent are only good to play second fiddle. Since the inception of the forth Republic, many political parties have thought that in order to win Northern Ghana they need to pick a Northerner as a Vice Presidential Candidate
. Some chose, used them and when their terms were over, they dumped them without giving them the fair chance of succeeding and leading those political parties. There have been many prominent Northern politicians who could have been great Presidents of Ghana if given the chance. But for the misplaced misconception that Northerners are only good as vice presidents, Ghana would have been a better place by now. I say this because; we would have given every ethnic group the fair shot at contributing their share to the development of this great nation of ours. We are not introducing tribal politics into our political system; unfortunately it already exists. Some people have used it to their advantage and they will be the first people to cry wolf if any other person tries to rally their people the same way. If anybody thinks or wants to believe that there is no ethnicity in our political discourse then why it is always necessary to choose a vice president from a particular ethnic group in a certain Political Party but those vice presidents never become presidents? I will give you an answer. It’s because if you are not from that ethnic group you cannot lead that party; plain and simple. Whether that is good or bad is a debate for another day. Great Northerners in our recent political history like Ibrahim Mahama, Aliu Mahama, Martin Amidu, Mohammed Mumuni, Mahama Iddrisu were very close to leading Ghana at certain points in their political career but did not receive the support that was needed from their fellow Northerners. This is where we come in…. Our main goal is use the social media to rally support for John Dramani Mahama in his quest to getting re-elected as the president of Ghana. We need all of our northern brothers and sisters to rally with us. Don’t let anybody deceive you by saying that is going to be being tribalistic, no it’s not and even if it is, who cares? It’s about damn time we started taking care of our own.- The Babas
