National Capital Planning Commission

National Capital Planning Commission Welcome to the official page of the National Capital Planning Commission The Commission is comprised of 12 members. Remaining members serve ex officio.

Commissioners represent federal and local constituencies with a stake in planning for the nation's capital. The President appoints three citizens, including the Chair. At least one member must reside in Virginia and another in Maryland. The Mayor of the District of Columbia appoints two citizens. Both must be residents of the District of Columbia. These include the

Chair

of the DC City Council

Heads of Executive Branch agencies with significant land holdings in the region

Leaders of the U.S. House and Senate committees with DC oversight responsibility

Ex officio members typically appoint alternates to represent them at Commission meetings.

Projects on the agenda include the New Stadium at RFK Campus, New Plan for Pennsylvania Avenue, George Washington Memorial Parkway Vista Management Plan, White House Visitor Screening Facility, National Zoo Construct Arabian Leopard Habitat, and Naval Research P-250 Biomolecular Science and Synthetic Biology Laboratory. NCPC will also deliberate and vote on the East Wing Modernization Project (no additional public testimony will be heard or comments accepted).
