Great to be in Humboldt today meeting with farmers from eastern South Dakota to discuss the issues impacting South Dakota agriculture, including the future of the Farm Bill. I always enjoy hearing directly from the producers who keep our ag economy strong and learning more about the challenges and opportunities they’re seeing on the ground. Met with Mike Headley with the Sanford Underground Research Facility and Dr. Norbert Holtkamp who was recently appointed as the new director of the Fermi Lab based in Illinois. These two national laboratories coordinate on important work in researching dark matter. Always good to get an update on their operations.

At my request, representatives from the Office of the Inspector General of the Postal Service are on the ground in South Dakota right now collecting information on exactly what’s going on with our poor mail service.

My team and I have heard from hundreds of South Dakotans who are having persistent issues. Looking forward to receiving a full report from the OIG on the problems with our mail service, and a detailed report from USPS on their plans to fix it. In the meantime, if you’ve had an issue with the mail service, please continue to share your experiences with us.
