Public lands represent the very best of America, offering unmatched natural beauty, outdoor recreation and economic opportunity. As we recognize National Park Week from August 22–30, I encourage everyone to responsibly visit and support our national park sites—including the 10 National Park Service units located right here in Idaho.

This year is particularly special as we celebrate the National Park Service’s 110th birthday on August 25th with a Fee Free Day across all park sites. Protecting access to these iconic landscapes and cultural historic treasures ensures they remain vibrant economic drivers for our surrounding communities and continue to inspire future generations.

Nine out of 10 Americans say they associate potatoes with Idaho more than any other state in the nation. On National Potato Day, we celebrate our hardworking Idaho potato farmers and the crop they produce, which supports our state’s economy, rural communities and helps feed the nation!

The Biden Administration used CAFE standards to push aggressive fuel emission standards that effectively acted as a backdoor mandate for electric vehicles. While President Donald J. Trump rightfully reversed these expensive, unrealistic targets, the law remains on the books for future administrations to abuse. The RAAM Act would formally remove this outdated program effective model year 2029.

An 80-foot grand fir from Idaho’s Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests has been chosen as the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree! This time-honored tradition offers a wonderful opportunity to share a piece of the Gem State’s natural beauty with the entire nation. I look forward to seeing "The People's Tree" stand proudly in Washington, D.C., this holiday season!

The 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree has been selected on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. The tree, which will stand in front of the Nation’s Capitol in Washington, D.C., is an 80-foot tall grand fir located on the Salmon River Ranger District. 🎄

The Salmon River Ranger District spans 536,000 acres on the Southwest end of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests. Exemplifying this year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree theme, “over the rivers and through the woods” the Salmon River Ranger District includes parts of the Salmon River and South Fork Clearwater River drainages and spans vast areas of diverse landscapes from grasslands on the Salmon River breaks to productive forests to mountain peaks in the Gospel Hump Wilderness.

Washington mandates should not dictate what kind of car Americans can choose to drive. CAFE regulations forced automobile manufacturing costs upward, a financial burden passed on to consumers. The RAAM Act would end this heavy-handed mandate, restoring a market-driven approach.

My legislation to help expedite the recovery of missing servicemembers took an important step forward, receiving a unanimous vote out of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

We have a duty to our missing prisoners of war (POW) and personnel missing in action (MIA) to make every effort to bring them home. Government bureaucracy should not prevent families from receiving long-awaited answers about their loved ones. I will continue working to get this important bill signed into law.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Bipartisan legislation co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo of Idaho to help recover missing American servicemembers and civilian personnel has cleared its first hurdle in the U.S. Senate after receiving unanimous approval from the

Idaho National Laboratory’s milestones in successfully achieving criticality for three advanced reactors reinforces its leadership in a new and exciting era of nuclear energy. I congratulate the skilled personnel at Idaho National Laboratory and our public-private partners for driving this historic milestone in American nuclear innovation.
