Let independents vote in DC's Primary Elections!
Today, we showed up to the Wilson building to testify at the CEAL Committee's Budget Hearing to urge Council to finish the job and fund the remaining portion of - to allow independents to finally vote in the primaries.
In this year's exciting upcoming primary election, DC voters will get to use RCV thanks to Initiative 83 - but because Council failed to fully fund the initiative, independents still will be barred from participating. Many will show up to the polls assuming they will be allowed to vote because I-83 passed, but the Council voted down the funding of that portion of the initiative, actively excluding independents against the will of the voters.
