Wishing a sweet and meaningful Rosh Hashanah to Jewish communities across Ventura County, the Conejo Valley, and around the world.

At a time when acts of antisemitism continue to threaten the safety and sense of belonging of our Jewish neighbors, we must stand together against hatred in all its forms.

May the new year bring peace, joy, good health, and renewed hope. L’Shanah Tovah!

Today marks 25 years since the horrific acts of terrorism that forever changed our nation.

As we mourn the innocent lives lost and remember the survivors, first responders, servicemembers, and families whose lives were upended by the attacks on September 11, 2001, we recognize the extraordinary courage and selflessness of those who answered the call in our nation’s darkest hours.

On this somber anniversary, we recommit ourselves to supporting all those who continue to live with the lasting impact of that day and to ensuring that the lives lost and the sacrifices made are never forgotten.

For generations, the labor movement has fought to strengthen the middle class, build a fairer economy, ensure access to healthcare and a secure retirement, and expand opportunities for working families across our country.

Today, workers face growing challenges as the Trump administration puts billionaires and wealthy corporations ahead of working families while the cost of living continues to rise. Good-paying jobs are under threat. The fundamental right to organize and collectively bargain continues to come under attack.

But America’s strength has always come from its workers, and I will continue fighting for policies that reward hard work, protect workers’ rights, ensure access to affordable healthcare for all Americans, and give every family a fair shot at getting ahead.

This Labor Day, we celebrate the workers who keep our communities and our country moving forward, recognize the power of solidarity, and recommit ourselves to building a future where every worker can thrive.

Gloria Steinem was an American icon.

When I was a congressional intern in college, the women’s rights movement was transforming our country, and Gloria was one of its most powerful and influential voices. At a time when women were demanding a greater voice in our government, our workplaces, and our society, Gloria inspired generations of women to show up, speak up, and take an active role in shaping our country.

Gloria was a fighter and an activist throughout her life. Through her groundbreaking journalism, fearless advocacy, and unwavering commitment to equality, she challenged the status quo, broke down barriers, and helped forge a better future for generations of women. She fought for reproductive freedom, equality in the workplace, and a movement that recognized and elevated the voices and experiences of women from all backgrounds.

Her true impact cannot be measured simply by the progress she helped achieve. It lives in the generations of women who found their voices, claimed their place at the table, stepped forward to lead, and continued the fight for equality.

I am deeply grateful for the example Gloria set and the path she helped pave for so many. She changed our country for the better, and while we have lost a fearless fighter for women and equality, the movement she helped build and the generations she inspired will carry her work forward.

Gloria Steinem leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, and her courage, conviction, and determination will continue to inspire generations to come.

Donald Trump used the presidency to rake in BILLIONS.

All while American families LOST money.

House Democrats are focused on putting money back in people’s pockets.

106 years ago, the 19th amendment was ratified, granting women the right to vote.

Today, we honor the countless women who pushed for equality and recognize how far we have come, while also acknowledging how far we have to go. We will keep fighting.

Donald Trump promised to lower prices on Day One. He lied.

More than a year into his second term, families are paying more for the essentials they need every day. Trump’s tariffs, his war in Iran, and the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” are putting even more pressure on household budgets while handing tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations.

While Trump dismisses the housing crisis as “a big yawn” and says he wants to keep housing prices high, Democrats are fighting to build more housing, lower mortgage and rental costs, rein in corporate landlords, and make homeownership more attainable. While Republicans cut food assistance and health care to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy, Democrats are fighting to lower grocery and health care costs, protect coverage, and make caregiving more affordable for working families.

Families across Ventura County and the Conejo Valley are feeling the squeeze. Trump’s tariffs and Republicans’ economic agenda will only make it harder to pay the bills, save for the future, and get ahead.

The choice is clear: keep rewarding the wealthy while costs rise for everyone else or take action to lower prices, protect health care, and put working families first.

The American people deserve better, and House Democrats are fighting for real relief for families across the country.
