Law-abiding Idahoans should never have to worry that their firearm or ammunition purchases are being tracked by financial institutions.

H.R. 1181, the Protecting Privacy in Purchases Act, protects the privacy and Second Amendment rights of gun owners by prohibiting payment card networks and processors from assigning merchant category codes that specifically identify firearm retailers.

I am glad to share that this legislation has passed the House with my support.

I had a great time meeting the young leaders who make up the Mountain West Council's National Jamboree contingent during their stop in Washington, D.C.

I joined my Idaho colleagues to meet with Secretaries Brooke Rollins and Doug Burgum, U.S. Forest Service Chief Tom Schultz, U.S. Wildland Fire Service Chief Brian Fennessy, and leaders from the National Interagency Fire Center to discuss the wildfires devastating the West and how we can better fight and prevent them.

I’m grateful to each of them for their leadership, partnership, and commitment to supporting Idaho and western communities as we work to protect lives, property, and our beautiful forests.

It was great to be in Wilder with the Idaho Onion Growers Association visiting J&S Farm’s onion field and J.C. Watson’s onion shed.

I had a terrific visit with the Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District touring the Ridenbaugh Canal—originally built in the 1800s—and hearing about the latest developments in the headworks modernization project.

The updates underway to this vital system will improve the canal’s efficiency, reduce water loss, and help ensure reliable water delivery to communities across the Treasure Valley!

The House passed the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act, H.R. 471, 18 months ago.

This common-sense bill would help protect communities from catastrophic wildfires by reducing hazardous fuels and streamlining red tape that keeps good forest management tied up in federal bureaucracy.

I urge my Senate colleagues—It’s time to get this legislation to the President’s desk for his signature.

It is a national security threat for the United States’ electric grid to be reliant on technology from adversarial nations.

I am proud to have joined my Republican Study Committee colleagues in urging the Trump administration to halt imports of Chinese-made power inverters used in grid infrastructure.

This week, that warning was heeded—a major win for American manufacturing, energy independence, and national security.
