Cacao is a fruit that grows on the Theobroma cacao tree, blossoming in patches along the trunk and mid branches. The fruit is huge and oblong, resembling an American football, with a hard external shell that must be cracked open before the delights inside can be discovered.🌳🌈

Each fruit weighs roughly 500g and contains cacao beans (or seeds) and cacao pulp. The cacao beans are covered with pulp and arranged in rows that resemble a corn cob around the placenta or rachis. The cacao pods' seeds are eventually transformed into chocolate, while the white soft flesh is juicy and sweet, refreshing, and suggestive of a tropical fruit.🍫😋
