Instead of focusing on lowering costs for working families at the grocery store, gas pump, or pharmacy counter in Hampton Roads, Jen Kiggans yet again voted to continue the Iran War that has already cost families billions and is sending our tax dollars overseas.

Virginians deserve a leader who will put them first.

Once again, Jen Kiggans put her loyalty to President Trump first and made clear with voting to continue this war that she does not stand with the working and military families who are tired of seeing the cost of their gas and groceries skyrocket and their loved ones go off to war.

As a 20-year Navy veteran who has transited the Strait of Hormuz, I know the evil of the Iranian regime and the importance of restraining their nuclear ambitions. This war has failed to achieve those objectives and has not made our country any safer, all while driving up the cost of living for middle class Americans. Jen must answer to Hampton Roads for imposing tremendous costs on working families who are footing the bill for another misguided foreign war.

Dawann’s contagious smile, larger than life personality, and his passion for serving others made us all better. He was a light in this world and had a lasting impact on everyone he came in contact with. I am grateful to have called him a friend.

I’m continuing to pray for his family and everyone who loved him during this difficult time. His memory will be a blessing to us all.

Our office is deeply saddened to share the passing of our Chief of Staff, Dawann Steagall Jr., after a courageous battle with cancer. Dawann was more than a member of our office, he was a brother and family to our team.

We ask that you keep his loved ones in your prayers as we honor his life, his service, and the lasting impact he made on our office, the community and the Commonwealth.

Seven years ago today, 12 innocent lives were taken at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center in a senseless act of violence that forever changed our community. We honor and remember each of them today, and every day, and recognize the lasting impact they had on their families, friends, colleagues, and community.

Today’s unveiling of the 5/31 Memorial represents our continued commitment to honoring the victims and their families. We will continue to carry on the legacy of those we lost on May 31, 2019.
