It was great to be at the ribbon cutting for the new Auburn University Applied Research Institute in Research Park in Huntsville. This facility’s primary mission will be to serve our warfighters by getting them mission-critical research in real time, without delay. Auburn students will work on this research while continuing their education. This is another great example of Alabama’s outsized role in serving our nation’s defense.

Spanning the 4th District: From DeKalb County to Colbert County, these individual jail cells are being manufactured right here in Fyffe and will soon be installed in the new Colbert County Justice Center in Muscle Shoals.

A great example of the work and craftsmanship being done right here in North Alabama and the 4th District!

It was great to join the Alabama delegation this past weekend at the BCA Government Affairs Conference.

We had the opportunity to discuss what’s happening in Washington, what we’re doing across our districts, and how we can continue working together to strengthen Alabama.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Sand Mountain radio legend Beecher Hyde.

Beecher worked at several radio stations throughout his long career, most recently at WBSA in Boaz. For decades, he brought entertainment, information, and a familiar voice to thousands of people across Sand Mountain, long before the days of the internet and cell phones.

At 95, Beecher leaves behind a remarkable legacy in radio and in the communities he served. We are praying for his family and loved ones and celebrating the many years of joy and information he brought to so many.

I appreciate the Alabama Broadcasters Association inviting me to speak at their Florence reception as they celebrate 80 years. They also used the event to induct three new members into the Alabama Broadcasters Hall of Fame: Jerry Phillips, Maudie Bedford and Paul Slatton.

Local broadcasters remain a vital part of our communities, even eight decades later. Congratulations!

It was great to join the ribbon cutting at Fayette Airport as we celebrated a $612,000 FAA Airport Improvement Program grant to expand the apron and improve drainage and erosion control.

Investments like this strengthen infrastructure, support local businesses, attract new economic opportunities. I’ll always support efforts that help our rural communities grow.

It was a pleasure for Caroline and me to welcome Members of the British Parliament, Peter Fortune and Alicia Kearns, members of the Conservative Party, to Alabama as part of the annual U.S.-U.K. Parliamentary Exchange.

Each year, I enjoy introducing our British friends to life in North Alabama, and no visit would be complete without a stop at Buc-ee’s! Like so many of the visitors who came to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, they were amazed by the size, selection, and uniquely American experience that Buc-ee’s offers.

Beyond the fun stops, this exchange serves an important purpose. The United Kingdom remains one of America’s closest and most trusted allies, and building strong relationships between our lawmakers helps strengthen the enduring partnership between our two nations. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to share our communities, our values, and the hospitality that makes North Alabama such a special place.
