Our interns didn’t just hear about the work. They got to see it up close. 🫶

Our Team Blue 2026 Summer Interns spent the day touring DC Water headquarters, the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Main Pumping Station to get a behind-the-scenes look at the people, facilities, and processes that help us provide safe, reliable water services to the District every day.

From learning about treatment operations to seeing critical infrastructure up close, the tour gave interns a firsthand look at the work happening across our organization and the many career paths that support our mission.

We’re excited to continue supporting this talented group as they learn and grow throughout the summer! 💧

Safety Day at DC Water was more than training. It brought employees together for a day of hands-on demonstrations, interactive activities, wellness programming, and conversations centered on one shared goal: making sure everyone goes home safely.

Throughout the day, employees explored fire and life safety, first aid and AED instruction, hazard identification, personal protective equipment, ergonomics, workplace wellness, emergency preparedness, and emerging safety technologies.

Along with hands-on learning opportunities, employees had the chance to connect with colleagues, engage with vendors, and learn about tools and resources designed to support a safer workplace, while enjoying a live band and other activities throughout the day.

Thank you to our sponsors and partners, including Safety Champion sponsors Eastern Contractors Corporation, Safety Management Group, and RKI Instruments, for helping make this event possible.

Special thanks to Ecudemio Gutierrez Jr. and the Occupational Safety and Health team for bringing another successful Safety Day to life. 💧

Replacing a private lead service line can feel overwhelming. In some cases, there may be a lead service line on your property even when there isn’t one in the public area.

The good news? In partnership with the Department of Energy & Environment, the Lead Pipe Replacement Assistance Program (LPRAP) can help you get a free replacement on a schedule that works for you.

Emily has officially arrived in the District! 💧

DC Water’s second tunnel boring machine is now at the West Potomac Park construction site, where she will soon begin excavating the southern section of the Potomac River Tunnel.

Working alongside her sister machine, Mary, Emily will help build a 5.5-mile tunnel designed to significantly reduce sewer overflows and improve water quality in the Potomac River.

This milestone brings us one step closer to a cleaner, healthier river for the community. 🔗 https://www.dcwater.com/about-dc-water/media/news/germany-dc-emily-arrives-one-way-ticket-help-build-potomac-river-tunnel

Something BIG is coming to West Potomac Park… it means Mary might not be alone for long 👀
