It’s urgent that Democrats and Republicans in Congress unite to pass meaningful regulations on AI. When the engineers and CEOs building this rapidly accelerating technology are warning us of its existential threat to humanity, it would be deeply irresponsible to ignore their expertise.

Just as we regulate pharmaceutical drugs, nuclear weapons, airplanes and so much more, we must regulate frontier AI before there are catastrophic consequences.

Further, the U.S. must lead negotiations with China to establish a global framework on this issue. Donald Trump has an opportunity to do tremendous good here. Again—we’ve done it before and we can do it again. International cooperation is in all of our best interests.
