DC Rotary Club The Rotary Club of Washington, DC is a volunteer organization for professional men and women. Our club conducts a lunch each week with a keynote speaker.

The Rotary Club of Washington, DC was founded as the 46th club of Rotary International. Our speakers have included Supreme Court Justices, high-ranking military officials, former Cabinet Secretaries, ambassadors and more. All Rotary Clubs operate under the same four ideas called The Four-Way Test. Of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Join us next Wednesday for a special guest speaker, Brian L. Schwalb, the District’s second independently elected Attorney General.

A third-generation Washingtonian, Attorney General Schwalb is a graduate of Duke University and Harvard Law School. Prior to his election, he served as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice and later became Vice Chairman and Partner-in-Charge of the Washington, D.C. office of Venable LLP. Today, he leads the Office of the Attorney General with a focus on protecting D.C. residents, advancing the public interest, and ensuring a safer, healthier, and more equitable District for all.

Yesterday, members of the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. had a wonderful time at the Red Line Happy Hour hosted by Rotary Club of Capitol Hill.

Events like these remind us that Rotary is more than weekly meetings and service projects. It’s a community built on connection, collaboration, and shared purpose. Bringing together local clubs and members creates space for meaningful conversations, fresh perspectives, and stronger relationships across our D.C. network.

A big thank you to the Rotary Club of Capitol Hill for hosting such a fantastic evening. We truly enjoyed the energy, the conversations, and the opportunity to connect with fellow Rotarians across the city.

Tomorrow, we are honored to welcome His Excellency Wendall K. Jones, Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States, to the Rotary Club of Washington, DC.

A pioneering force in Caribbean media and communications, Ambassador Jones has spent decades shaping journalism, broadcasting, and publishing throughout The Bahamas. As Chairman of Jones Communications International Limited, his impact spans radio, television, print media, and literature that preserves and celebrates Bahamian history and culture.

We look forward to an engaging conversation with a leader whose work has informed, inspired, and connected communities across generations.

One room. More than 70 leaders. One shared purpose.

Last month, the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. hosted its annual Ambassadorial Reception at the residence of Colombia’s Ambassador to the United States, Daniel García-Peña.

Guests included ambassadors and diplomats from Uganda, Benin, Mexico, Colombia, the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and Eritrea, along with Rotarians, Rotaractors, and civic leaders.

The evening celebrated diplomacy, culture, and service, ending with a vibrant Colombian cumbia performance.
Most importantly, the event raised $8,200 for FUNDAMIRA to support an Information Technology classroom for underserved Afro-Colombian communities in rural Colombia.
This is Rotary in action: bringing people together and turning connection into impact.

Yesterday at our weekly meeting, the Rotary Club of Washington, DC had the honor of welcoming Mike McGovern as our guest speaker.

His presentation reminded us that something as simple as a vaccine, something many of us grew up taking for granted, can completely change the trajectory of a child’s life in underdeveloped countries. From preventing lifelong disabilities to creating healthier futures for entire communities, the global fight against polio continues to be one of the most impactful humanitarian efforts in the world. 🌍

We also learned more about the collaborative efforts behind these initiatives, including the support of the U.S. government, the Gates Foundation, Rotary International, and countless volunteers and organizations working together toward one mission: a world where no child suffers from a preventable disease.

A powerful reminder that service is not always loud.
Sometimes, it looks like decades of persistence, funding, partnership, and showing up for children we may never meet. 💙

Some Rotary events feel less like “networking” and more like watching little bridges quietly being built across cities, cultures, and causes 🌍🤝

Last week, Rotarians from across the DC Metro area gathered for the DC Metro Red Line Happy Hour hosted by the Rotary Club of Gaithersburg at The Bench at the Marriott Hotel. Members from Rotary clubs across the region came together for an evening of fellowship, conversation, and shared commitment to service.

It was especially meaningful to see leaders involved in District 7620 Intercountry Committees (ICC), including conversations surrounding international humanitarian efforts supporting communities in Ukraine, Ethiopia, and beyond. A beautiful reminder that Rotary’s impact doesn’t stop at city or national borders.

Today, we welcome Wade Warren, a global leader in international development with more than 30 years of experience shaping U.S. foreign assistance policy and practice. As former Acting Administrator of USAID and former Chief Strategy Officer for International Development at Deloitte, Wade has led at the highest levels of government and global development. His expertise across policy, global health, Africa, and international strategy continues to influence how impact is created worldwide.

Service isn’t a moment. It’s a movement. 🇺🇸

This past week, Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Washington, D.C. attended the 250 & Beyond Symposium hosted by Independent Sector right here in D.C.

The event brought together leaders across sectors to explore how we shape the next 250 years of American service—and how service continues to define who we are as a nation.

A highlight: connecting with keynote speaker Brian Baird of the National Museum and Center for Service, whose work is helping drive this movement forward.

Proud of our members who showed up, engaged, and continue to bring that spirit of service back to our community.
