The SSDP chapter at NMSU was founded to start the conversation about drug policy on campus. We want to educate students about the ineffectiveness of the War on Drugs and focus on a public-health based approach rather than a criminal approach when it comes to drug usage. We want to mobilize students to actively participate in the political process so that we can advocate for drug policy reform on c

ampus, local, and state levels. We believe that it is time the end the drug war. SSDP neither condones nor condemns drug use, rather we respect the right of individuals to make decisions about their own health and well-being. We encourage honest conversation about the realities of the drug war. We promote youth civic engagement as a critical tool in reforming drug policy. SSDP respects the diverse experiences and identities of our constituents. We develop leaders who advocate for policy changes based on justice, liberty, compassion and reason.

Cannabis law reform is often only looked at a state or national level it's time to take a look at how progressive legalization policies are helping communities in other states and how they could improve our own.
