Interns in my Everett office learn about how my office helps people with federal agencies and reach out to local communities across Northwest Washington.

Bliss will graduate this December from Dalhousie University and is originally from Kirkland, WA. Her policy interests include human rights, housing and criminal justice. Bliss’s favorite memory was meeting and discussing housing policy with my staff to write a memo recommending a bill for me to support.

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday’s telephone town hall. I got to chat with over 6,400 of my constituents and answer questions about everything from my visit to the Ferndale ICE facility to what I am doing to fight Republican’s attacks on Medicaid that will cause thousands of people to lose their health insurance in Northwest Washington.

As a Norwegian American and Co-Chair of the Congressional Friends of Norway Caucus, I join Norwegians in Norway and around the world in mourning the passing of His Majesty King Harald V. I had the honor of meeting King Harald V during his visit to Seattle in 2015, and I will always remember him for the warmth and humility he showed during his visit.

My thoughts are with the people of Norway during this time of mourning.

King Harald was a reformer who emerged from the shadow of his well-loved, extrovert father over more than three decades on the throne.
