Hispanic National Bar Association - HNBA Nonprofit, nonpartisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of over 67,000+ Hispanic legal professionals in the U.S.

and its territories. The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) is an incorporated, not-for-profit, national membership association that represents the interests of over 67,000 Hispanic attorneys in the United States. We also serve Hispanic students, other legal professionals, and members if the community. Since 1972, the HNBA has acted as a force for positive change within the legal profession

by creating opportunities for Hispanic lawyers and by helping generations of lawyers to succeed. The HNBA has also effectively advocated on issues of importance to the national Hispanic community. While we are proud of our accomplishments, we are mindful that our mission is as vital today as it was nearly five decades ago, especially as the U.S. Hispanic population continues to grow.

Some of the best conversations at the Annual Convention happen before the first plenary and long after the last panel.

Our sections, divisions, regions, commissions and committees are hosting meet-ups across all three days of AC2026. Some are built around a practice area, others around a career stage or a shared experience. The LGBT Division opens Wednesday with its 11th Annual Leadership Summit. Thursday brings the Insurance Section Cafecito, Health and Life Sciences, and Sports, Media and Entertainment, plus section receptions at 4:30. Region V and the Young Lawyers Division close things out Friday morning over breakfast.

Ohtli is the Náhuatl word for "path."

The Government of Mexico gives the Ohtli Award, through the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior, to people whose work has opened paths for Mexican and Mexican American communities abroad. This year it goes to Professor Luz E. Herrera.

From Tijuana to Harvard Law to two decades of legal clinics, immigration research, and free counsel for families with deep ties to Mexico. She built a practice serving low-income clients in Compton and conducted research that reshaped how policymakers understand reintegration.
