This war in Iran was an illegal and flawed operation from the beginning when President Trump bypassed Congress and hurried into a conflict without a plan, an objective, a coherent strategy, or support from the American public and the international community. And Americans have suffered the price at the gas pump, grocery store, and their pocketbooks.

I was proud to vote with all of the House Democrats to exert our war powers authority under the Constitution to end this war.

The Senate must act swiftly to bring our troops home.

The Trump admin has shown time and time again a complete disregard for the rule of law.

Our legal system forbids a federal agency from acting as judge, jury, and executioner on a paper record alone. This is yet another blatant violation of the law.

The Department of Homeland Security doesn’t get to invent a fast-track deportation pipeline that completely trashes due process. Every person seeking asylum protection is here lawfully and has the right for their case to be heard.

The regulation, described in internal documents obtained by CBS News, would be the latest effort by President Trump's White House to tighten access to the U.S. asylum system.

Today, Secretary Markwayne Mullin yet again tried to defend ICE’s lawless deportation dragnet by asserting that they are going after the “worst of the worst.”

Nobody is fooled by this flat-out lie.

In fact, ICE has been violating their own policy for a year by arresting people at immigration court.

But Secretary Mullin didn’t even know that.

DHS does not get to make up their own laws and it’s time Sec. Mullin learns what they are and follows them.

We’ve always known that Pete Hegseth’s war on DEI was thinly-veiled discrimination, but now he has put it out in the open.

Our country deserves a military led by the best, not whoever passes your political loyalty tests or race and gender requirements.

I am proud to announce that our immigration triage center has successfully secured the release of 40 of our neighbors from unlawful ICE detention — the 40th being one of the detainees at the MDC that I met with recently.

Through the tireless work of my district staff and our incredible partners and community advocates, we are standing up to this cruel government overreach and reuniting families.

When you actually stand up to Trump, he blinks.

But it just begs the next question: why did it take so long?

One year after ICE began snatching people outside immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, the Trump admin is accelerating its lawless deportation agenda with mega master hearings designed to fast-track removals and eliminate due process.

But this past year, we’ve also built a coalition of advocates, faith leaders, lawyers, and community members and fought back with lawsuits, oversight visits, and legislation to win important battles along the way.

If this administration won’t hold U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement accountable, then we will.

This month, we celebrate the resilience, joy, and history of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially here in NY-10, where the fight for equality helped spark a global movement.

As the Trump administration and the GOP shamelessly attack the community — especially trans kids — and threaten funding against hospitals that provide care, it is my great privilege to fight for justice and individual freedom so that every single New Yorker and American can live safely, freely, and authentically as who they are.

Over the past year, my office's rapid response triage center has helped hundreds of families and freed 39 detainees from Trump's cruel and illegal immigration dragnet.

Now, we're expanding this model nationwide. My office partnered with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to train over 100 congressional offices on how to replicate my model in their own districts.

Together, we will keep this intense pressure on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Department of Homeland Security so that we can help people wrongfully detained around the country.

We are not backing down.
