When crisis hits, military families are often the first to sacrifice—and the last to be recognized.

NSL4A member Tom Jurkowsky highlights the urgent evacuation of Navy and Marine Corps families from Bahrain, where many were forced to leave with minutes’ notice and arrived in the U.S. with little more than what they could carry. Their experience is a reminder that “they, too, are often placed in harm’s way.”

George C. Marshall’s plan for European recovery was signed into law 78 years ago today. Marshall first considered American support for European reconstruction after attending a 1947 conference in Moscow. Within 10 months, the Marshall Plan was put into effect, and America’s alliance with Western Europe further developed.

Although this alliance has recently been tested, the members of National Security Leaders for America remain committed to the unified world Marshall helped build.

NSL4A is raising concerns about reported intervention in a vetted Army promotion list.

In our statement, we warn that political interference in the promotion process undermines merit-based advancement, threatens trust and morale within the ranks, and risks eroding the integrity of the military.

We urge full transparency and accountability to protect the professionalism of the force.

National security rests on a robust, merit-based civilian intelligence infrastructure. These professionals build relationships, carry institutional memory, and understand regional conflicts in ways political appointees simply can’t.

While NSL4A remains in support of United States service members operating under this administration’s mission, the present loss of civilian intelligence has hampered that goal. For a more comprehensive understanding of the history of civil service, check out the page on our website.
