One of my favorite days of the year is celebrating our Ward 4 graduating classes!

So incredibly proud of our Coolidge Colts and Roosevelt Rough Riders and all they’ve accomplished as they prepare for their next chapter.

Great things are ahead for our scholars! 🎓👏🏾

When the Council received the Mayor's budget, it proposed balancing our fiscal challenges on the backs of working families, educators, youth, and residents struggling to get by.

Today, we approved a budget restoring funding for the Pay Equity Fund, childcare subsidies, school HVAC repairs, Access to Justice, healthcare, and more.

We invested in recreation centers, housing stability, and the workers who keep our city running.

This budget isn't perfect, and there is still more work to do before second reading. But I'm proud we chose to protect residents, strengthen our safety net, and make lasting investments in communities across Ward 4 and DC.

This afternoon, I had the opportunity to tour the newly renovated Petworth Library, which is scheduled to reopen at the end of the summer!

The modernized space includes:
🪟 Upgraded windows and flooring
🪑 Brand-new furniture
📚 Teen center on the second floor

Dedicated spaces for young people to gather, learn, and build community are essential, and I’m especially excited to see a teen center included in this project.

Thank you to DCPL for renovating this space for Ward 4 neighbors to benefit from for years to come!

Happy , DC! 🌈

Pride is about celebrating the history, spirit, and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community in DC and beyond.

I’m proud that DC is an inclusive community where people can be who they are and love who they love—and I’ll fight to make sure LGBTQIA+ voices are seen, heard, and celebrated.

I can’t wait to celebrate Pride with you all throughout June!

Paid family leave is a lifeline for families — one that I will fight to protect. A serious illness or caregiving need is one of the most economic destabilizing events a family can face. I know this as a caregiver for my father before his passing.

Forcing families to put a pause on claims for one year doesn't mean that a cancer diagnosis will pause for a year, or that a senior parent will be able to hold off on needing hospice care.

Instead of honoring the commitment the District made to working families, we are budgeting this budget on the backs of working families. I voted no on the CEAL Committee report because I know we can do better.
