Just a few points to ponder. Yesterday, Monday, June 15th 2026 the expositor posted an article regarding the 6 million dollar payment that white county received from Waste management as part of their contract. Great news.....but during the full board commissioner meeting it was told that the commissioners received an email on Thursday, June 11th about the funds ....now the question is...did anyone outside of the elected officials receive any information about said monies? Why the need to keep this from the citizens of White county? Transparency? What else is there that we the public are not privy to?
Now what to do with the monies? As of last night the budget passed with no property tax increase, thankfully. This amount of money is not a reoccurring payment each year, the amount could and probably would vary and I understand that you can't build a budget on a varied income. But what will they do with the money? 1 million should go to debt services. If 5 million is invested it could garner 250 to 350,000 in a year. Could that money be utilized to fund different departments thus it could lower the tax rate in county citizens or will the money be utilized for heaven only knows. What would be your suggestions for the money?
Another point to ponder the $5.00 on all our electric for the maintenance of convenience centers. The city removed the $5.00 thus the idea was put forth previously for the county to do the same......nope not happening because we need it for the convenience centers.......but what if any monies being received from Waste management for tipping fees being utilized for? Where is or will these funds be budgeted?
Too many questions and not enough answers. What are your thoughts or ideas

White county budget committee has a budget proposal and will be presenting it to the full board. As it is currently there is no property tax rate increase. Let's see if this holds. You can watch the meetings on YouTube if you can't attend. Keep informed of what is happening. As ever your voice is your vote.

Early voting starts today. 8 felt the need to clarify something that was posted on FB land. The democratic ballot is not blank. True there are no candidates registered as Democrats running thus there's no one listed on there BUT the sales tax vote is ..... . Make your vote count. Get out and vote

together and find common
solutions.

need to register to vote.
Your vote is your voice. If you

As an elected official you ask your local constituents to vote for you. You represent your district constituents but ultimately you actually represent all the constituents of your county. You will help make decisions on what is best for your constituents on a local level, not on a state or federal level. You as a local representative deal with local(county) level issues. Listen to your constituents about their concerns and questions. Work collectively with other elected officials to deal with concerns, get the answers for the questions. Have you contacted an elected official and never received a response? Just crickets? I have, I have felt unheard. I respectfully ask you for the opportunity to be your voice for District 6 Commissioner White County Tennessee. Let's see what we can do for all of us.
