The WPD will have extra officers out for the Buzzard Bash - WaKeeney, KS so we can offer Safe Rides to anyone needing them and to ensure everyone has an enjoyable day. Honoring and Remembering the Hero’s who fought for our freedom.

The WaKeeney police department will be displaying our respect this Memorial Day by covering our patrol badges with a mourning band. We will also have a presence at our Veterans Cemetery on Memorial Day as our communities come together to honor our nations hero’s and pause to remember them.

As we reach the midpoint of spring, it is time for all residents of WaKeeney to begin focusing on seasonal property maintenance.

With warmer weather here, grass and weeds are growing quickly. Please take time to mow and maintain your property to help prevent violations and keep our neighborhoods looking their best.

We have also noticed an increase in household furniture and items being placed along curbs and in alleys. Please remember that the citywide cleanup took place in March, and these items are not scheduled for pickup at this time. Residents are responsible for properly disposing of unwanted items at the landfill.

Taking pride in our properties helps maintain the appearance, safety, and overall quality of our community.

Please do your part to help keep WaKeeney clean and looking great.
