In honor of National Police Week & in remembrance of Richland County’s lawmen killed in the line of duty (George E. Moody EOW 12/9/1911 and Evan M. Jones EOW 4/17/1917) we are lighting the town blue!

There is a lot that goes into maintaining the daily operations of the Wahpeton Police Department, and both Gaylene and Kasey are cornerstones of the PD's effectiveness and efficiency. We couldn't do it without them!

Wahpeton Police Department has been made aware of a scam being texted to several residents. Do not click on anything in the text and do not go to the listed website. Delete the text and report it as spam on your phone.

The Wahpeton Police Department is continuing to request the assistance of the public in attempting to locate Alfred ODDEN.

Alfred was last seen on 04/01/2026 at Casey's General Store in Valley City, ND. The investigation is ongoing; however, cellphone records confirm that Valley City was the last place Alfred's phone had connected to a tower.

Surveillance footage from Casey's shows Alfred wearing khaki pants, a purple jacket, and a baseball hat.

Please contact Wahpeton Police Department with any information. 701-642-7777A Silver Alert is being issued by NDHP and ND BCI at the request of Wahpeton Police Department. Alfred Odden of Wahpeton, ND is a 73 year old white male.

Alfred is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs between 160-180 pounds, and has short grayish hair and green eyes. His last known whereabouts were on 04/02/2026 in Valley City, ND. He is believed to be driving a Teal 1994 Ford F-150 with red topper, ND License MEUCCI2.

Alfred is a vulnerable adult and was last seen at Casey's Gas Station in Valley City, ND on 04/02/2026. He was wearing a purple zip up jacket with a possible "W" emblem on front and tan pants.

We have been made aware of a mass text message scam going around the area.

A few things to look out for:

❌ Government agencies will never solicit payments via text message

❌ Links that do not end in .gov or .nd.gov

❌ Your vehicle registration cannot be “suspended”

❌ Phone numbers that start with +63

Unless you clicked the link and submitted payment or identifying information, you can just block and delete these messages.

If you did submit payment or information, report it to your local Police Department or Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE: Elexis has been located and is safe. The Wahpeton Police Department wants to thank those who called in and gave information that led to locating Elexis.

The Wahpeton Police Department is reaching out to our community for assistance in locating Elexis Edwards, 17. Elexis was last seen this morning entering an unknown make/model Black SUV.
