EOAC Waco: Changing Lives

EOAC Waco: Changing Lives Non-Profit Community Action Agency

The Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation is a private non-profit organization, chartered by the State of Texas on April 25, 1966. The purpose for which the agency was created is to implement and carry out the provisions of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. This act recognizes that the United States can achieve its economic and social potential as a nation only if every individual has

the opportunity to contribute to the full elimination of poverty in McLennan, Bosque, Freestone, Limestone, Hill, Falls, Johnson, Ellis, and Navarro Counties. This is done by opening to everyone the opportunity to work, live in decency and dignity; and to strengthen, supplement and coordinate other efforts in the 9 counties.

What is Community Action? 💙

Community Action is a nationwide movement focused on helping individuals and families overcome barriers and achieve greater stability and opportunity.

Community Action Agencies work directly within their communities to provide services that address local needs and create pathways toward long term success.

At EOAC, Community Action means walking alongside families through early childhood education, energy assistance, workforce development, emergency support, and more.

Sunlight streaming in can quickly heat up your home, especially during hot Texas afternoons.

Closing blinds or curtains during the hottest parts of the day helps keep indoor temperatures down and reduces the need for constant cooling.

Taking turns is a big step in learning how to play and grow with others. Whether it’s sharing a toy, playing a simple game, or waiting for a turn, these moments help children build important social skills like patience and cooperation.

At Head Start, we know that practicing turn-taking helps children learn how to interact with others, solve small conflicts, and build friendships. These everyday play moments lay the foundation for strong social and emotional development.

💬 What games do you play to practice taking turns? We’d love to hear what works for your family!

Weatherization does more than improve energy efficiency. It helps maintain and improve home value for seniors while supporting long term stability for families across generations.

At EOAC, weatherization services help create safer, healthier, and more efficient homes throughout the Heart of Texas. These improvements can lower energy costs, increase comfort, and help families preserve one of their most important assets: their home.

Community Action is about building stronger futures that last for generations.

Community Action Agencies help create pathways to prosperity through workforce development, job skills training, and employment coaching.

At EOAC, we believe opportunity grows when people have access to the tools, guidance, and support needed to move forward. Through programs like EmpowerU, individuals are building confidence, gaining new skills, and working toward long term success for themselves and their families.

This is the impact of Community Action in the Heart of Texas.

Ceiling fans don’t cool the air, they move it. Using fans can help you feel cooler, allowing you to raise the thermostat without sacrificing comfort.

Turning fans off when you leave the room also saves energy since they only work when you’re there to feel the breeze.

👉 Do you leave fans running when you’re not in the room?
