Dear Family & Voorhees Friends and Neighbors,

Thank you all for your support in the election yesterday.

To my friends who encouraged me to run for the board, those who helped me with the campaign, those who guided me throughout the process, and the many voters who thought of me on Election Day - I am grateful to each of you for believing in me.

Although I will not be joining the Eastern Regional High School District Board of Education this term, my interest in seeing a successful future for our school district remains strong. I wish the elected members all the best in their roles and have no doubt that they will navigate their term with respect and care for our district’s students, families, and communities.

My platform? I don’t necessarily have a platform. I am all about doing what’s right for our students and the community.
My motivation for joining the board is to keep Eastern known as a great school in our area.
My overall goal is to continue creating a positive educational experience for our children while also balancing the district’s needs with the board’s fiscal responsibility to the members of our community.
Decisions will be made with the district and the community in mind, but most of all, I’m interested in keeping our children’s best interests at the forefront - doing what’s right.

Why am I running for an elected seat?
As a parent of three Eastern students, it's important for me to do everything I can to regain the excellent reputation that Eastern has in our community. My goals are balancing what's best for the students with what's best for the community and continue creating a positive educational experience for every student.

If elected, I would like to focus on collaboration. Working together is the most important part of identifying opportunities and solving challenges. We can't continue maintaining the high educational standards of this school district without working together. That does not mean always agreeing on everything, that means having healthy discussions that are respectful and ensuring that we view issues from every possible angle before coming up with meaningful solutions that take into account what's best for the students and reflect the voice of the community.

Hi everyone! I’m Assunta (but you can call me Suzie) Barone, and I’m excited to share that I’m running for a seat on the Eastern Board of Education.

Voorhees has been my home for over 20 years — it’s where my husband and I raised our three children, two of whom have already graduated from Eastern and one who’s still there. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on two parent-teacher associations and on the Voorhees Township Recreation Advisory Board, planning events that bring our community together.

Now, I’m ready to take that same passion and experience to the next level — helping ensure our schools remain strong, welcoming, and a source of pride for every family.

I believe in collaboration, transparency, and supporting both our students and teachers so Eastern continues to thrive.

I hope you’ll follow along as I share my ideas, listen to yours, and work toward a positive future for our school community.
