Vicksburg Police Department Hosts Human S*x Trafficking Investigation Training
VICKSBURG, MS — The Vicksburg Police Department recently hosted a three-day Human S*x Trafficking Workshop, bringing together law enforcement professionals from agencies across Mississippi for specialized training focused on identifying, investigating, and combating human trafficking.
The training, facilitated by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, provided participants with valuable insights into the complexities of human trafficking investigations. Topics included recognizing indicators of trafficking, victim-centered investigative approaches, intelligence gathering, evidence collection, and collaborative strategies designed to support victims and hold offenders accountable.
Human trafficking remains a significant concern nationwide, often occurring in ways that are difficult to detect. Training opportunities such as this help equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify victims, investigate criminal activity, and work alongside community partners to address these crimes effectively.
"The fight against human trafficking requires education, awareness, and strong partnerships," said Vicksburg Police Chief Larry Burns. "We are grateful to the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office for facilitating this important training and to the agencies from across the state that participated. Together, we are strengthening our collective ability to protect vulnerable individuals and pursue those responsible for these crimes."
The Vicksburg Police Department remains committed to providing professional development opportunities that enhance public safety and strengthen partnerships among law enforcement agencies throughout Mississippi.
