Our first meeting of the summer will be held next week. Topics include LCAP, budget and the new math adoption. This meeting will be recorded and live streamed, for ease of viewing. The next Regular Board of Education Meeting is planned for Tues, June 9, 2026. The agenda, including information on how to make public comments (which must be in person), location, and the start times of both closed and regular sessions, will be available 72 hours prior to the Board meeting on the Board Agendas and Minutes webpage. All regular Board meetings are livestreamed and recorded. The doors to the room will open 30 minutes prior to closed and regular sessions. I was honored to attend fifth grade promotion at Poinsettia Elementary! It seems like just yesterday that my own kids had their promotion to middle school, but here I am preparing to attend Buena High School’s graduation for my oldest. Wishing all of our fifth graders a wonderful promotion and best of luck in middle school!

It’s graduation week in VUSD! Ceremonies will be live streamed for folks who can’t attend in person. Or maybe you are like me, a parent with a graduating senior, who just needs to see it again because it’s hard to believe it is real! July 6 to 30, 2026 -- Free Summer Meals for Kids!
Free lunch for kids this summer! Our Food and Nutrition Services team will be serving free meals to children ages 1 to 18 at schools and community sites from July 6 to 30, 2026. No Ventura Unified enrollment required -- all kids are welcome!

Congratulations Ms. Claire! I hope your students spoil you rotten!

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Nancy Claire, Dual Language 5th Grade Teacher, on being recognized as a Teacher of the Month by the Education Committee of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce! 🎉

Ms. Claire creates a classroom where every student feels valued, supported, and challenged to succeed in both Spanish and English. Her passion for teaching shines through in everything she does, from continuously learning new strategies to support students to creating memorable experiences that make learning fun and engaging.

Whether she is organizing a student talent show, motivating students in costume, or volunteering her time to support school programs, Ms. Claire always goes the extra mile for students and families. Her dedication, positivity, and commitment to academic excellence continue to leave a lasting impact on our school community.

To honor and remember our fallen heroes.

In observance of Memorial Day, all Ventura Unified School District schools, district offices, and after-school programs will be closed on Monday, May 25.

We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe and restful holiday as we honor and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country. Classes and programs will resume on Tuesday, May 26.
