New York Wing mourns the passing of Lt. Col. Warren D. Ratis, a devoted 32-year Civil Air Patrol member who served at Long Island Group, New York Wing and Northeast Region.

Lt. Col. Ratis was a member of the CAP aircrew that captured historic aerial photographs of Ground Zero on September 12, 2001.

We honor his extraordinary service and enduring legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fellow members.

Fly high, sir. Your legacy endures.

Ultimate Bear and Wings Challenge (UBWC) Day 1

The competition is started and our cadet teams are bringing the spirit of teamwork and fun to the weekend!

Teams participated in events themed in leadership, aerospace, emergency services, and fitness.

After an aquatic challenge and a game of volleyball, teams ended the night with a talent show. 💃

25 years later, we remember.

We remember the innocent lives lost, the Americans on Flight 93 who fought back, and the heroes who stepped up to search for survivors.

Almost 3,000 families were changed forever on September 11, 2001.

Today, California Wing highlights one of our own. United Airlines Captain Jason Dahl embodied our core values throughout his life and on that fateful day.

Student registration is OPEN for the California Wing for Drill and Ceremonies School on October 2–4, 2026, at Camp San Luis Obispo!

Drill is a vital leadership laboratory where cadets learn discipline, teamwork, instruction, public speaking, feedback, and responsibility. This school builds on encampment experience and prepares cadets to lead at future events.

In addition to student registration, applications are open for the following positions:

👉 First Sergeant

👉 Flight Sergeant

👉 General Support
