Please join us in welcoming Chief Jonathan Goulding as the new Fire Chief of the Vallejo Fire Department.

Chief Goulding brings more than 25 years of fire service experience, and his appointment marks an important new chapter for our department after nearly two years without a permanent Fire Chief.

Our members respond to more than 19,000 emergencies each year while facing staffing challenges dating back to the early 2000’s, in addition to working without a current labor agreement. We look forward to building a strong, collaborative relationship with Chief Goulding to strengthen our department, improve firefighter recruitment and retention, and continue providing the exceptional service the Vallejo community deserves.

Chief Goulding shared with us, “I’m excited to join this outstanding department and look forward to building a strong partnership with the union as we continue to build on the great work that has already been accomplished together.”

Welcome to Vallejo, Chief Goulding. We look forward to working together in service to our firefighters and our community.

We remember their courage, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to protecting the freedoms we hold dear. Today and always, we stand in gratitude and remembrance for our fallen heroes.

As Annie Pennycook Elementary prepares to close at the end of the school year, we’re grateful for the memories made along the way. Vallejo firefighters and Truck 21 once again helped make the annual egg drop competition unforgettable for the students. We’ll truly miss this tradition and the smiles it brought each year. 🚒🥚💛

A lost dog named Fiona fell into a well under an abandoned home in Vallejo on Monday, and needed to be rescued after treading water for about two hours.

The incident happened on Monday, April 27, and was handled by the Solano County Sheriff’s Animal Control Services unit.

According to a social media post, officers with Animal Control Services recevied two calls on Monday, one from an abandoned home where an animal’s cries inside could be heard, and one from a family nearby whose dog had just gone missing.

After starting the day with two structure fires, Vallejo firefighters joined kids and families from the local community at Dan Mini School for the Vallejo Community Bike Fair.

The Vallejo Fire Department 2025 call summary is in, with 18,896 total calls for service nearly tying the departments all time high call total of 18,997 in 2024.

The Vallejo Fire Department is committed to rapid emergency response to emergencies of all call types.

The Vallejo Fire Department awards our members with a Lifesaving Medal based on great heroism during an emergency in which their actions made a direct and measurable impact towards saving a life.

Four Lifesaving Medals were recently awarded to Captain Morty Culverwell, Captain Anthony LaSala, Firefighter Paramedic Andrew Marques and Firefighter Paramedic Alex Marques for their actions that directly saved a life as they pulled an unconscious man out of a working car fire and then promptly provided emergency medical care that restored his airway.

Our department and union’s primary mission is to save lives and protect property. The medals awarded here exemplify this.

5 tips your firefighters to stay safe this Halloween Weekend

🎃 Always look both ways before crossing the street.

🎃 Stay visible. Use flashlights and add reflective tape to costumes.

🎃 Stay on the sidewalk. Before crossing the street, make sure you look both ways.

🎃 Always stick together in a group if going out.

🎃 Check your children’s candy before they eat it.
