Iron lung on Display at the Museum of the Grand Prairie in Mahomet. Many polio survivors depended on this kind of machine to breathe. Some were able to recover to live without it many spent the rest of their lives in one of these. To the right…the stuffed elephant my mother attached to my bed while I was tied to keep my legs straight. Please support Rotary’s efforts to eradicate Polio.

Our Story

C-U Illini After Five is a small, informal Rotary club, chartered in 2005. Speaker meetings are held two times per month at Campbell Hall, Illinois Public Media building, 300 N. Goodwin, Urbana, IL, on the University of Illinois Campus. Also, club members meet at varying locations in Champaign or Urbana on Thursdays to either perform a community service project or to meet in a social setting, such as a restaurant for a meal. Check our page each week to find out where we will be meeting and our program for that week. Although our name is "Illini After Five," members do not have to have ties to the University of Illinois. We welcome adults of all ages from all professions and academic institutions, and we are continually recruiting new members from a diverse population. We are committed to serving our community and having fun together to carry out Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self."
