Orange is the color of hunger awareness, and this September, we're asking North Alabama to make it visible.

On September 29th, Hunger Action Day, businesses, schools, churches, landmarks, local governments, and neighbors across our region are invited to Turn Orange.

🧡 Wear orange.
🧡 Light up or decorate your building or sign in orange.
🧡 Share your orange on social media and tag us.

Together, let's shine a light on hunger across North Alabama. Thank you to everyone who has already committed to turning orange!

In observance of Labor Day, the Food Bank of North Alabama will be closed Monday, September 7th, and will reopen Tuesday, September 8th.

Today, we honor the workers whose dedication has helped build and strengthen our communities. As we recognize Hunger Action Month, we're also reminded that hard work doesn't always guarantee enough food on the table. Every worker. Every family. Every neighbor deserves the opportunity to thrive. 🧡

On Thursday, September 24th, the Food Bank of North Alabama and United Way of Madison County, through charitable support from Eli Lilly and Company to United Way Worldwide, are hosting a free drive-thru food distribution at Milton Frank Stadium.

It can look like a parent skipping a meal so their children can eat.
A senior stretching a fixed income.
A veteran trying to make ends meet.
A child depending on school meals.
A working neighbor facing an unexpected expense.

Across North Alabama, our network serves children, families, adults, veterans, and seniors. Hunger can affect anyone, regardless of circumstances. This Hunger Action Month, we invite our community to look beyond assumptions about food insecurity. Everyone deserves reliable access to enough food. 🧡

Hunger Action Month starts TODAY! 🧡 Ending hunger isn't something one person, organization, or food bank can accomplish alone. It takes farmers, volunteers, donors, drivers, partner agencies, advocates, and neighbors working together.

Across North Alabama, more than 206,000 of our neighbors experience food insecurity, including nearly 60,000 children. But hunger is something we can change when we all choose to Play Our Part.

All month long, we’ll be sharing stories, local hunger facts, and ways you can take action, from volunteering and giving to learning, advocating, and helping raise awareness.

And on Hunger Action Day, September 29, we’re asking all of North Alabama to TURN ORANGE to show that our communities stand together against hunger. 🧡
