Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff's Office This is the official page of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman Our social media accounts are not monitored in real time.

To report a crime, speak with a deputy, or for any other issue that requires law enforcement assistance, please dial 911 or our non-emergency line at 941.316.1201. Social media accounts of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office are not intended to constitute a public forum. they are intended to provide the public with law enforcement- and public safety-related information. The sheriff's office does

not allow comments on social media posts effective July 2024. This change is due to the increasing logistical difficulty of monitoring for prohibited comments that contain obscenity, defamation, libel, threats, remarks that disparage or discriminate against anyone based on their s*x, race, religion, national origin, s*xual orientation, disability, etc. It is not the intent of the sheriff’s office for these posts to constitute a public forum. It is still our policy to use social media to communicate up-to-date information to members of the community. The sheriff’s office continues to be committed to providing information to the public, while eliminating the risks associated with litigation and potentially staggering costs to taxpayers. The sheriff’s office continues to maintain multiple avenues for members of the community to communicate with our office to provide tips, report criminal activity, make complaints, request public records, or ask questions through our website at www.sarasotasheriff.org, Crime Stoppers at 941-366-8477 (366-TIPS), dispatch center at 941-316-1201, email at [email protected], and our SCSO app (available at both the Apple Store and Google Play). We will continue to share information on cases and inform our citizens and media of breaking news on our social media platforms and through press releases. As always, we thank our community members for their continued support. This decision will help accomplish our goal of keeping our community safe.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kara Jane Rose Plocharsky, DOB 03/24/95, today on one count of Burglary.

In the early morning hours of June 4th, deputies responded to an active alarm at the 8 Ball Lounge, located at 3527 Webber Road just before 4:00 a.m. The first deputies on scene observed the glass front door had been shattered. A perimeter was set up around the area while a K-9 team conducted a search of the building with no results.

In reviewing the surveillance footage, detectives observed a female wearing a motorcycle helmet, shatter the front door and enter the establishment. She made her way to the bar area where she pushed dozens of liquor bottles off the top of the bar resulting in thousands of dollars in damage to the establishment.

Through investigative means detectives were able to positively identify Plocharsky as the individual seen in the surveillance video. With the assistance of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office , she was arrested Wednesday morning in Manatee County.

Plocharsky was also arrested on two Sarasota Police Department warrants for the burglaries that occurred on the same morning at the Green Zebra Café and The Met.
