Just a reminder, the Kids Fishing Derby is Saturday June 13.

Grab your fishing poles and get ready for a morning of big catches and even bigger smiles! The 10th Annual Quarry Springs Park Fishing Derby is back on June 13, 2026, and we want to see your best "fish face" at the registration booth.

Whether your little angler is a seasoned pro or picking up a rod for the first time, this is the perfect day to enjoy the water. We’ll have judges on hand to record every catch, and while we have special prizes for the largest fish and the most fish caught, every single kid walks away with a prize!

🎣 Derby Schedule
8:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Walk-in Registration

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Fishing Derby

11:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Free-will donation lunch (Hot dogs, chips, and treats!)

11:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Prize Ceremony

HEY JASPER & POLK COUNTY AREA!!!

Be sure to set aside the night of June 27th for some food, fun, and music. Quarry Springs Park will be hosting a disc golf tournament that weekend. The tournament will be run by Freak Disc Golf along with Abstract Disc Golf. Friday night the 26th will feature a glow in the dark tournament. Then on Saturday we will be utilizing both Colfax disc courses with players switching courses in the afternoon. On Sunday, all play will be at Quarry Springs Park. Colfax offers two of the better courses in the state of Iowa with The Tigerhawk at Lewis Park and The Osprey at Quarry Springs. As part of the event, we will have the band 5 Below playing on-stage from 7 to 10 pm. Tournament players get in free and the general public admission cost is $10. Juan Hernandez will be serving up meals all day for players and the general public as well. Additionally, Chris May and her Snow Glow, snow cone truck will be set up all day too. If you haven't watched or played disc golf before, this will be a great opportunity to watch. So come on out for an entertaining day of disc golf, live music, and great food. We hope to see you here!!!!

REMINDER: We will begin hosting workdays at Quarry Springs Park beginning Saturday April 18th. We will meet at the park office at 9 am each workday. We will need to have volunteers sign waivers and if you are underage, we will need a parent or guardian’s signature as well. You can go to our website, quarryspringspark.com, and download a copy to print and sign in advance. We will begin with a day of clearing branches and small limbs on the Pete Parvi Pathway. We will also have a crew working on The Osprey Disc Golf Course the same day. If you are at least 18, we would appreciate it if you could bring your own chain saw. We will supply 40:1 no alcohol gas/oil mix and bar oil. We will take a break at noon and supply pizza and water. You are welcome to leave after that or stay and continue working with us each week. This is a great opportunity for high school students to earn community service hours. We will have numerous opportunities to volunteer. We will also have a need for help for our park events which include the Kids’ Fishing Derby, The Colfax Open Disc Golf Tournament and Concert, Paddle Skedaddle. We will announce each Friday night prior to the workday if we plan to cancel due to weather forecast. The following is a list of dates for the first few weeks.
April 11th: Cleaning brush off Pete Parvi Pathway
April 18th: Cleaning brush off Pete Parvi Pathway
April 25th: Cleaning brush off Pete Parvi Pathway
May 2nd : Trash pickup throughout the park
