The Idaho Firewise horticulture team has been active this spring at our Homesite garden in Boise, maintaining a consistent garden space and building both ecological resilience and community connections.

Earlier this month, our work extended to a community project in Caldwell at the Idaho Youth Ranch Residential Center, where on-going work to improve the fuel conditions on the property is taking place.

And more recently, our team spent time weeding at the Orton Botanical Garden in Twin Falls. The garden's diversity makes it a perfect place to pick up ideas you can bring back to Firewise-focused landscapes.

Visit our demonstration space to learn more about what you can do in your own landscape and be better fire prepared this season.

Wildfire mitigation is about reducing risk before a fire ever starts.

Simple actions, like clearing flammable debris, spacing plants, or hardening your home, can make a real difference in whether a wildfire becomes a disaster.

Mitigation doesn’t mean eliminating fire.
It means giving your home and community a better chance to survive it.

This winter is the perfect time to start planning for a safer fire season.
