Friends and family of Blackwater Draw, it is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of ENMU alumnus and former student employee, Jonathan Delgado. Jon worked at BWD from 2021 to 2023, at both the front desk and in curation. Jon’s passion for museum education was unmatched, and it was clear from the start that he was born for this field. Jon never met a stranger and lit up any room he entered. He leaves a legacy at BWD of providing fun and interesting tours. So much so that many of our positive online reviews are thanks to Jon’s incredible ability to engage every visitor. Jon was also a dear friend and beloved anthropology student. He instantly made friends with his peers and made everyone feel welcome. Even after BWD, Jon followed his calling as a museum educator in his hometown of Las Cruces, NM. Below is his obituary. He will be deeply missed.

Congratulations to Saphira Laughter, Kyle Montgomery, JoAnna Schultz, Tara Larson, and Scott Jones! You have all worked SO hard for this moment, and we cannot wait to see what incredible things you do next!
