The Athens Common Pleas Court is saddened to hear of the passing of Judge Ed Robe. Judge Robe was a wonderful person and always a pleasure to talk to. He was a kind and thoughtful person and was always considerate including in court. He will certainly be missed and it will not be the same without him around. Prayers and condolences to the Robe family. May he rest in peace.

Msg from Athens County 9-1-1: For Monday - 1/26/2026-Athens County is under a Level 3 Snow Emergency. Roadways are closed and travel is restricted to Emergency Services only. The Court House Complex is closed. Only emergency service personnel should report to work.

1/23/2026 - In preparation and anticipation of the upcoming storm, the Athens County Court of Common Pleas would like to remind everyone of the policy regarding inclement weather. If you are scheduled to be in court, please refer to the following policy:

The Athens County Commissioners established the following weather related policy concerning snow related closings. The Athens Common Pleas Court and Domestic Relations Court follow that policy which is:

Level 3 - All County Offices will be closed. (All hearings will be rescheduled)

Level 2 declared before 6:30 a.m. - County offices will open at 10:00 a.m. Employees are expected to report at that time unless otherwise instructed by their Supervisor or Appointing Authority. Update at 8:30 a.m. if conditions merit further delay or closing. (All hearings scheduled before 10:00 a.m. will be rescheduled. If you were scheduled for a full day of hearing please contact your attorney as your hearing start time may be delayed to begin at 10:00 a.m.)

Common Pleas Court Cases set from 9:00 am-10:00 am will be heard at 10:00 am unless your attorney tells you otherwise.

Level 2 declared after 6:30 a.m. - County offices will open at the usual time. Employees need to use care and travel according to their abilities and road conditions. (Hearings will go forward as scheduled. If you are unable to make it to court, please contact the court)

Level 1 – Normal Operations. Employees need to use care and travel according to their abilities and road conditions. (All hearings will go forward as scheduled)

If you are scheduled to be in court on a day when the weather makes traveling difficult, you may contact your attorney to seek guidance on whether your court hearing has been rescheduled. If you are not represented by an attorney you may contact the court to see if your case has been rescheduled.
