Sometimes we get so caught up in wondering when things will happen that we forget to ask ourselves where we’re headed.

Trust your journey. You don’t have to have everything figured out, and you don’t have to move at the same pace as everyone else. Progress is still progress, even when it feels slow.

“The compass came before the clock because it’s not about the timing at which you’re moving in, but it’s about the direction.”

Keep choosing the direction that feels true to you. Keep taking the next step. Your timing may not look like someone else’s, but that doesn’t mean you’re behind.

❤️ Thank you, Creating Community ! ❤️

Today, because of the kindness and generosity of this amazing organization, we were able to help get a Veteran a fan after their AC unit unexpectedly broke. Until we can get their AC unit repaired, this fan will help keep them a little more comfortable and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who stepped up to help.

It’s moments like this that remind us what community is truly about: coming together, looking out for one another, and making sure no one is left behind. 🇺🇸❤️

We are still looking for a little more help. If you are in the Fort Worth area and happen to have an extra AC unit that you would be willing to donate or let this Veteran use until theirs can be repaired, please reach out to us.

Austin VFW Post 8787 "The Capital City Post"is honored to host a special Ray-Ban Meta AI Smart Glasses Distribution & Training Event for blind veterans.

When: Friday, September 11, 2026, from 3:00–5:00 PM.
Where: 500 VFW Rd. Austin, TX

Through this program, Meta is donating Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses to blind veterans AT NO COST, helping provide access to technology that can assist with reading documents, identifying surroundings, navigating daily activities, and greater independence. Attendees will also receive hands-on training and support.

Must become a BVA Member (free) and meet their eligibility requirements.

Princess Diana will always be remembered for the compassion she showed toward people who were struggling and in need. Her genuine care for veterans, their families, and those facing difficult times was a beautiful reflection of her belief that everyone deserves kindness, dignity, and support. ❤️

When our non-profit organization stepped in to manage this property, we were confronted with deep seated issues that no resident should ever have to endure: overflowing waste, severe sanitation concerns, compromised safety, and a complete loss of basic community amenities. As an organization dedicated to serving Homeless Military Veterans, stepping up in times of crisis is what we do.

Since taking over management, our team has worked tirelessly to turn things around and restore pride and comfort to our residents:

Eliminated Sanitation Hazards: We immediately tackled the waste crisis by emptying all overflowing dumpsters, cleaning out trash-filled rooms, and restoring clean, hygienic common areas.

Enhanced Safety & Security: We addressed urgent security vulnerabilities to protect our residents, curb property damage, and ensure a safe, peaceful living environment.

Rebuilding Community & Comfort: We are actively working to bring back the vital services, amenities, and community activities that residents lost over the years.

Our ultimate mission goes beyond day to day management: our goal is to acquire and own this property permanently. By bringing the building under long term nonprofit ownership, we can guarantee that our senior and veteran residents never face these unacceptable conditions again.

Rebuilding a community takes a village. To fully restore this property and secure its future, we need the support of our local community, volunteers, and donors. Whether through financial contributions toward property repairs, volunteering time, or donating resources, your involvement directly impacts the lives of our seniors and veterans. We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping our residents meet a basic but very important need: access to clean clothing.

We are currently in need of 12 dryers and 6 washers so that our residents can wash and dry their clothes on-site. Many of the individuals we serve are struggling financially and simply cannot afford the cost of traveling to a laundromat, paying for multiple loads of laundry, and purchasing the necessary supplies. For some residents, choosing between doing their laundry and paying for other basic necessities is a very real challenge.

Having washers and dryers available would provide our residents with greater dignity, independence, and the ability to maintain clean clothing without the added financial burden of using a laundromat. It would also create a more supportive and comfortable environment for the people we serve.

We are asking community members, businesses, organizations, and generous donors to consider supporting this important need. Whether you are able to donate a washer or dryer, provide financial assistance, or connect us with someone who may be willing to help, every contribution can make a meaningful difference.

Together, we can help ensure that our residents have access to something most of us consider a basic necessity clean clothes and the ability to care for themselves with dignity.
