Digital Greensboro is a collaborative history and digital scholarship platform at digitalgreensboro.org.

Digital Greensboro is a collaborative local history and digital collections platform hosted by the UNC Greensboro University Libraries. The Digitization Unit, a part of the Electronic Resources and Information Technologies (ERIT) Department, is responsible for Digital Greensboro and for the digitization of primary source materials and other historical and archival resources both within the University Libraries and for external keepers of unique historical material, including UNCG faculty and local cultural heritage organizations. Currently staffed by one full-time employees, three employees shared with other areas, and several student assistants, the Digitization Unit handles a variety of projects within Digital Greensboro. Photograph part of the Adeline Sears LaPlante Collection. Adeline Sears LaPlante (1919-2006) of Easton, Pennsylvania, served as a recruiter and as a public relations officer in the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) and the Women's Army Corps (WAC) from 1942-1945.

The scrapbook is part of the Hadassah of Greensboro / Winston-Salem Records. The Hadassah of Greensboro/Winston-Salem Records consist of meeting minutes, correspondence, directories, activity lists, financial records, newspaper clippings, final reports, photographs, skits, newsletters, project and program files, and audio-visual materials. The correspondence, newspaper clippings, and program files document the charity work that the women of Greensboro and Winston-Salem coordinated among the community both at home and in Israel.

Photograph part of the Martin's Studio Collection housed at the Greensboro History Museum. This extensive photographic archive of over 300,000 images consists primarily of 4x5 inch negatives but also includes some prints and business papers. Carol W. Martin (1911-1993) became the first full time paid professional photographer for the Greensboro Daily News in January 1938. When he left to open his own studio in 1947, he took with him a wealth of his work for the newspaper. His World War II images obviously date to his local photojournalism career. Many of the post-1947 images of businesses, on the other hand, were probably taken by his partner, Malcolm A. Miller (1917-2008).

"The Chinqua-Penn Plantation, near Reidsville, North Carolina, was the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson Penn. In 1959, Mrs. Penn gave Chinqua-Penn to the Consolidated University of North Carolina. Woman’s College, now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, operated the house and gardens, and opened the property for tours in 1966. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Board of Trustees decided on February 12, 1986, not to reopen the home to the public as of March, 1986, due to lack of funds for operation and maintenance. The property was sold in 2006 to Calvin Phelps."

📻 To celebrate College Radio Day, tune in to more than a century of college radio history.

In 1906, Harvard students formed what was described as the first college radio club. By the 1920s, students built stations, broadcast campus events, and experimented with new ways to communicate.

Today, the Internet Archive’s Digital Library of Amateur Radio and Communications (DLARC) is preserving that history through station records, posters, program guides, DJ manuals, scrapbooks, and more.
