ONLY ONE MORE WEEK TO DROP OFF YOUR DONATIONS!

As of May 5th, there are currently 8,071 children living in foster care and 1,177 in our NKY region alone. When a child is placed in care they often only bring with them the clothes they were wearing and a few small items that are often tossed into a trash bag.

For the months of June and July the IVC will be partnering with an Independence based non profit who operate a care closet to help provide needed items for foster families locally. The Giving Tree of NKY is a committee project of Foster Adoptive Parent Association of NKY. The Giving Tree/FAPA that provides care bags/essentials to children that are entering foster care. Please take a moment to view their page The Giving Tree of NKY and see all the good they do!

Items needed (all items must be new):
• Hygiene items
• Plastic hangers
• laundry detergent
• Bonnets/Durags
• Cantù/Natural hair products

Donations can be dropped off all month long at the city building, 24/7. There is a marked barrel to the right in the main entrance.

Can you feel it, Independence? Spring is in the air!

For the month of March, the Independence Volunteer Corps is sponsoring Action Ministries, a completely volunteer organization of over 100 people from different churches and communities. They provide food and household grocery items to about 900 families each month. Many of the families coming to them never had to ask for assistance before, but are being forced to now because of unexpected job losses. As they are able, they also share items which have been donated to them with other, small agencies in the area.
Go to https://actionministries.org/ to learn more about this awesome organization.

Please consider donating the following grocery and hygiene items, where there is a real need, in order to help these families:
-peanut butter
-jelly
-canned soup
-pasta sauce
-mixed vegetables
-cereal
