It’s with the fullest heart, and biggest sigh of relief that I announce he’s been successfully returned to his nest. I initially thought it wouldn’t be possible with how high and how deep in and under the gutter it was. One forklift, a helper, and a long stick got it done! You can’t see them but 3 babies are in that nest, now 4!

It’s with the fullest heart, and biggest sigh of relieve that I get to announce the baby was successfully put back into its tall hard to reach nest. Mom came and fed them as soon as I got down.

You know, it was my fault. I told myself today I will be strong and refuse ALL baby starlings and sparrows this year. I’m so overburdened and without time I can’t keep up with myself. Feeding a baby every 20 min? Can’t do it. That’s why ofcourse I found a baby starling. 🤦‍♀️

The squirrel at the top is a healthy baby.

The other was kept for four days and fed puppy formula, even after our contact information was provided on Friday. FOUR days. When finally surrendered, this baby (and another not shown) had injuries from trying to nurse each other because they were literally starving.

Wildlife is not the same as raising a puppy or kitten. The wrong formula or improper feeding can quickly cause aspiration, severe dehydration, and death.

Please do not attempt to rehab wildlife yourself. It is illegal if you are not licensed and it can cost the animal its life.

Get wildlife to a licensed rehabber immediately. There are multiple resources for guidance, including the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Wildlife Network, and Animal Help Now.

If you truly want to help, the best thing you can do is get them into the hands of a licensed wildlife rehabber immediately. No excuses. 🛑

TRANSPORT NEEDED. Pigeon rescued has broken wing in cookeville. Can someone get him and bring him to Murfreesboro where I work tomorrow by chance? He could be picked up today and held overnight. n
