Here we are again, another Christmas season at the UVFD. This is the moment in time, where we come together as not only a department, but more as a family. Over the last year, our department has grown by leaps and bounds! We have been blessed to have many new and younger firefighters join our department. We also welcome not only them, but their families as well into the fold!

We are looking forward to our future, and just see exactly, what the department has in store for the 2026 year!

From the UVFD, to our community, we wish all of you a very merry Christmas, and a safe and productive new year!

We have been blessed to have a great group of people who have stepped up to be volunteers here Even though, it’s becoming more and more difficult. Pressures, more responsibilities, more requirements. Becoming a volunteer, is very rewarding, while at the same time, very challenging. Many things are asked of volunteers to do, while at the same time, no pay or compensation for services. Often, it takes away from family, moments, workplace duties, etc., etc.
there has been a lot that’s changed since the UVFD began back in 1982!

In rural pockets of Tennessee where the nearest fire station can be miles away and response times hinge on whoever can race out the door first, volunteer firefighters have long been the backbone of…

As our annual family portrait, fundraising is wrapping up, we understand, due to the extreme amount of people we have in our area, it has been hard for that company to contact each and everyone. So, with that said, we would like to throw this out there, if you are still interested in contributing to the UVFD through the family portrait fundraiser, you can contact the company directly. Taylor Yeager, will be your contact .9316371313.

If you should have any other questions regarding the family portraits, you can also contact Taylor. We appreciate everyone support. Even during this trying times with our economy, you still hold true, and supporting the UVFD! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you very much!

Apologies for the delayed post. But, as all of you are aware of now, it has came to that time of year, where we fall back on the clocks. Meaning, everyone has set their clock back one hour. So with that said, for many years, it has been a rule of thumb. When changing your clocks, change the batteries in your smoke detectors. Make sure they are in working order. And some detectors, they have longer lasting batteries. So, with that said, even if you do not need to change batteries, take just a moment, to make sure your detector has been tested and is working properly! Everybody stay safe during the holiday season!
And, if you do not have a smoke detector and need one, reach out to us, we will make things possible for you to have one!

Time for your yearly PSA from your local volunteer fire department! Yes! You can feel it! Fall is in the air. Temperatures are starting to drop. The forecast is showing the temperature to drop to 40 or below tonight. So with that said, it is expected, central units, and fireplaces, will be firing up for the first time this year.

Many times, when these heating sources start for the first time, it is burning off lint and dust from the heating units. This can usually generate a strong smell in the house, and sometimes emit some smoke. In most cases, this is no calls for alarm. However, in other cases, Out of the abundance of caution, people will call 911 for the fire department to come out.

So, to hopefully set your mind at ease. We are recommending today, that you open up some windows and doors, crank up those heating sources, and go ahead to start the burning off process. If you do this during the day while you are at home, this will allow you to monitor the situation. If you wait until the time it is needed, which is usually during the middle of the night, these heating sources will come on, generating some smoke, and smells that you are not used to. In fact, sometimes these burn offs, will set off the smoke detector in the home, which will CAUSE concern and worry.

So, take a few minutes out of your day today, and go through the steps. This will hopefully set your mind at ease! However, if there is ever any moment of concern or doubt, by all means, call 911 and we will come check it out. Also, it’s not a bad idea, to have a local heating and air service company come out and check out your unit, or even have it on standby, in case they are needed for some sort of malfunction.

As they always say, an ounce of prevention, is better than a pound of cure !

Hello everyone! We just wanted to let everyone know, if you have not already discovered it, our annual family portrait, fundraiser is now in full effect! So, if you have someone who comes to your door soliciting family portraits, they should have proper credentials and identification, along with a letter representing the department to prove they are operating for us.

This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year, and we have been providing this service to our community since the early 1990s! We have always had great feedback and response for this project. However, with our community population being so great, it is almost impossible to catch everyone at home. So with that said, if you would like a family portrait done, and you have not been contacted, please reach out to Taylor Yeager, 931-637-1313. He represents the Company who is canvassing the area for us.

If you should have any questions if a representative is legit or not, or any other concerns, by all means reach out to us, and we will attempt to set your mind at ease! This has been a great service we have provided to our community, and we hope to continue With this offer each and every year.

We ask that you take a moment, and share this post to everyone in our community. Obviously, we do not want to miss anyone. And, even if you know someone outside of our community, by all means, you can share this with them as well. All money that is generated through this fundraiser, goes directly back into our department. It helps us purchase updated equipment, and outfit. Our new firefighters.

This is a very good story. Speaking on behalf of our department, we have been serving our community for over 42 years! We have been extremely blessed with having a great group of personnel! True, from time to time, our roster gets a little slack. However, Over the last year or so, we have been flooded with new young recruits! This is exactly what our department needed. It’s just a phase. All departments typically go through.

With all of that said, even though we have a great group of people, they are extremely dedicated to our community. Everyone has to understand, our volunteers, are exactly that, volunteers! They all have jobs, family, and other obligations. Many times, they drop everything to provide for our community. But there are those rare instances, where our response sometimes is slow, or very seldom, Unable to respond. But, at the same time, the dedication is unmatched with our department.

So, if there ever is an emergency where you need our services, and, it may seem like it takes a long time for us to arrive on scene, just bear in mind, and think, those volunteers gave up their personal life, to provide for me, at no charge! We do this for nothing. Gratification is our pay. So we go, above and beyond to provide to our community. And also, consider this, we not only give up the time to respond, but countless hours away from our families to train, do fundraisers, perform routine, maintenance, etc., etc. while at the same time, receiving zero compensation. We all do this for the love of our community, and providing services to others. This is the job of a volunteer firefighter! ❤️ https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1B5ceTSJAP/?mibextid=wwXIfr
