New sign:
Kirby Sales & Service was located at 3037 E Fifth, Tyler, Texas 75701.
As Kirby expanded into Texas in 1972, this store opened. Many remember the door-to-door Kirby vacuum reps demonstrating the deep cleaning. In the 1980s a typical Kirby cost $800-$1500 and some topping out at over $2000 fulled loaded (That would be $3500 in today’s dollars 😳). Retail sales and on-line sales replaced the salespeople and the Kirby company has closed many locations from the high of 850 sales & service centers.
Special thanks to the new building owner, who allowed my to save the signs- the letter board still coming soon.

Yesterday was moving day for the Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe sign. Loading up sign to transport over to get it ready. I appreciate the owners of Tia Juanita's Fishcamp Athens, TX for allowing me to keep the sign in Tyler!

NEW SIGN!
The MOTOPHOTO sign has a final home.
If you were like our family in the 1990s, Olan Mills and JC Penny were not keeping up with quality family photos, so we a lot of us starting going to MotoPhoto in the Epperson Plaza at 5637 S Broadway. A photo of that location is below. They were there until about 2014. They eventually made their way to their final location in the Green Acres Shopping Center on Troup Highway in about 2022. Unfortunately, there was a fire in the building in January 2024, that ended the business. Special thanks to The Genecov Group that allowed me to save the sign❤️

I realized today that the Oliveto sign was not lighting up… I hope some of you were not disappointed- but I got it going today… it looks great!

Oliveto sign us up… after 16 years on Troup Highway, in Tyler, Texas, Pinnacle Restraunt Group reported that their lease was up and they closed this location. The sign is a giant wall of a sign 8’ tall x 12’ wide, so, not block others, it had to go in the back. The sign has neon in the letters, and luckily, they still work!

I also got the logo from the front awning, so I’ll hang it up high somewhere - be on the lookout!

Long live the memories of food and friends.
