🚨 The Future of Emergency Response Is Coming to Tybee!

Big thanks to WSAV News 3 On Your Side for highlighting an exciting new tool coming to the Tybee Island Police Department in the next few months: a Drone First Responder.

The drone will be able to quickly respond to emergencies across the island, reaching any location in approximately 70 seconds. It can fly up to three miles at speeds of about 35 mph, giving first responders an extra set of eyes in the moments when every second counts.

From locating someone in distress to providing real-time information to officers and other emergency personnel, this technology has the potential to help save lives and make Tybee even safer.

🎥 Check out the WSAV story to learn more about how this new technology will help our community.

The drone can be sent to someone in distress in the water and bring life vests, an EpiPen and much more.

🌊 Blake Plateau Resolution: Council also approved a resolution recognizing the importance of the Blake Plateau, an extraordinary deep-sea ecosystem off Georgia’s coast and an important natural resource worthy of continued research, protection and stewardship.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to stay engaged in the work happening across Tybee Island! 💙🌊

🇺🇸 25th Remembrance of 9/11 🇺🇸

Tomorrow morning at 8:46 a.m., the moment the first tower was struck on September 11, 2001, a bagpipe player will perform at the Tybee Island Lighthouse as we remember the lives lost and honor the courage and sacrifice of so many.

For those who would like to listen and pay tribute, the best viewing location will be outside the fence near 30 Meddin Drive.

The lighthouse site will remain closed until 9 a.m.

🕊️ Rain or shine.

We invite our community to pause, remember and honor the 25th anniversary of September 11.
