Dr. Matthews will examine how federal policies shaped the displacement of Idaho’s Indigenous tribes—including the Nez Perce, Shoshone-Bannock, Coeur d'Alene, and Kootenai peoples—and how these communities have persevered through legal battles, cultural revitalization, and environmental stewardship. The talk will also address contemporary challenges, including the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People (MMIW/P) crisis and tribal efforts to reclaim sovereignty.
This event is free and open to the public. Whether you are a student, educator, community member, or interested in Indigenous history and rights, we invite you to attend this meaningful conversation.
