Our Villager, Ann, was born in Tuscaloosa as the eldest of six children. At the age of 13, she had the opportunity to visit her aunt and uncle in Detroit for two months. Those two months left quite an impression on her which resulted in her moving to Detroit in her 20’s for 24 years. She then returned to her hometown of Tuscaloosa. Ann has two daughters, two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is a member of Forest Lake Baptist Church. Ann enjoys cooking for other people and regularly sending cards out to people who are homebound, in nursing homes and/or hospitals. Ann is a regular attendee of the Home In Place chair yoga and is a regular attendee of many other events that are held.

Cecil and Sandy Hopkins met in college over 50 years ago. They were best friends and it was love at first sight. They recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. Cecil retired from Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Court as Chief P. O. He also pastors a church in Lisman, Alabama. Sandy is a retired Social Worker and a Home in Place Board Member and Volunteer. Sandy was also recently inducted into the Alabama Social Work Hall of Fame.
