Last week, we gathered to celebrate and say thank you to the volunteers and community members who showed up for Tulsa’s PIT Count and Emergency Winter Shelter efforts this past January. After breakfast, we pulled together in breakout sessions to reflect on the experience and hear directly from the people who made it possible — and were reminded just how much heart lives in this coalition. Thank you for being A Way Home for Tulsa. 🧡

On Tuesday, Tulsa broke ground on The Harbor, a new 24/7, low-barrier emergency shelter with 180 beds and a kennel for 38 dogs. Guests can stay around the clock, access services on-site, and come as they are.

No sobriety requirement, no mandatory program enrollment, pets welcome.

On any given night, all of Tulsa’s permanent shelter beds are full, leaving an estimated 500 people unsheltered. The Harbor fills a critical gap in Tulsa’s shelter system.

Made possible by the Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation, the Ruth Nelson Family Foundation, and the City of Tulsa, with City Care of Oklahoma City operating the shelter and an advisory committee that includes Housing Solutions, Tulsa Day Center, and city and county partners.

This week, AWH4T Chair Noe Rodriguez and AWH4T leaders attended the 2026 National Alliance to End Homelessness Leadership Summit in San Diego — engaging directly with the policymakers, practitioners, and advocates driving the national conversation on homelessness.

Over 1,300 individuals found shelter and safety during recent extreme weather, thanks to coordinated efforts across A Way Home for Tulsa partners.

Thank you to the outreach teams, shelters, volunteers, City partners, and community members who worked together, often behind the scenes, to ensure neighbors had access to shelter, warmth, and support.

The impact (January 23-29): ❄️

🏠 1,343 individuals served at emergency shelters
🛏️ 554 people sheltered at CREOKS Winter Shelter and Tulsa Dream Center West
👶 104 children sheltered
👴 109 senior citizens sheltered
🎖️ 52 veterans sheltered
🐾 60 pets sheltered

A special thank you to the local businesses and community donors who stepped up to support this effort. 💙

While the most acute weather has passed, winter resources remain available, and partners continue to coordinate support for neighbors experiencing homelessness. 💙

Big news from Safe Move Tulsa ↗️

Two more encampments have been closed, bringing 13 additional people into housing. That is now 68 people housed and 5 encampments closed, with all sites remaining closed.

Newly closed sites:
📍 96th & Riverside, 5 people housed
📍 11th & Skelly Drive, 8 people housed

We have also launched www.SafeMoveTulsa.com so you can track progress, see where encampments have been closed, and learn more about how this strategy is working. 🗺️📊

When temperatures dropped into dangerous territory, agencies around Tulsa jumped into action to help those who were without shelter. And in a moment when every single person could make a difference, Ryan DuVal stepped up.

Ryan and his Hope Fire Truck drove through the Tulsa streets, looking for folks who needed a ride or a place to warm up. He was able to bring many of our homeless neighbors to Tulsa Day Center, a truly life-saving act in that kind of weather. Thank you, Ryan!

Congratulations to the Tulsa Day Center on 40 years! 🎉 Since 1986, they have been a vital force in Tulsa, meeting a variety of complex needs with compassion and expertise. We are honored to have them as a partner as we work together to ensure every neighbor has the support they deserve.

It was 40 years ago TODAY that Tulsa Day Center first opened its doors. On January 31, 1986, 51 people came through the new facility and were helped to find showers, coffee, companionship and assistance. It was a place to get in out of the cold, and a place that saw them all as people who deserved help without judgement.

For the last 40 years, Tulsa Day Center has maintained that same commitment - to help homeless adults and families to find a safe place to land while helping them get access to the things they need. And through the support of our Tulsa community, we look forward to the day that we are able to together.

🚌 MetroLink will resume service on Monday, Jan. 26, operating FARE-FREE on activated snow routes as weather and road conditions continue to improve.

📌 What to know for Monday, Jan. 26:
• Fare free all day
• Fixed-route buses on activated snow routes
• Aero BRT (Route 700) will operate and continue into the evening
• MicroLink will NOT operate (day or night)
• LinkAssist for emergency medical trips only

🏢 Denver Avenue Station and Midtown Memorial Station will be open.

📅 Service for Tuesday, Jan. 27 will be evaluated as conditions continue to be monitored.

From the CREOKS Behavioral Health Services winter shelter, our CEO, Mark Smith, spoke with ABC News Live about how Tulsa responds when extreme weather puts lives at risk.

Since Friday night, more than 1,100 people have come indoors through winter shelter efforts across our community.

Grateful for our partners across A Way Home for Tulsa 🤝, the leadership from the City of Tulsa Gov and Mayor Monroe Nichols 🏛️, and the outreach and shelter teams working around the clock to help people get inside and stay safe. 💙
