During the first half of the year, Tulsa’s homeless response system connected 865 people to housing.

That number represents 865 individuals who are no longer sleeping on the street or in a shelter.

A milestone like this happens only because of the dedicated people who show up every single day. Thank you to our street outreach teams, case managers, shelter staff, housing providers, city leadership, and the donors and supporters who make this work possible.

This work is continuous, but 865 placements prove that our system is moving people into housing, day after day.

Yesterday, A Way Home for Tulsa hosted the first part of our Equity and Justice training series, facilitated by the Restorative Justice Institute of Oklahoma.

A huge thank you to the Restorative Justice Institute of Oklahoma for leading this session on restorative justice principles, and to all the AWH4T service providers and leaders who joined us. We appreciate everyone who showed up to engage in this communal learning space, share wisdom, and build practical skills together.

This was the first of three trainings planned for the year, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who participated in Part 1!

Every year, the Point-in-Time Count asks individuals experiencing homelessness to share what contributed to their situation. These are the top five reported causes in Tulsa in 2026.

1️⃣ Lack of Affordable Housing
2️⃣ Loss of Income or Benefits
3️⃣ Mental Health Challenges
4️⃣ Job Loss
5️⃣ Substance Use

The number one cause has not changed. Lack of affordable housing remains the leading driver of homelessness in Tulsa — and across the country. Substance use appears in the top five for the first time, a reminder that homelessness is rarely one thing. It is layered, complex, and often misunderstood.

The 2026 Point-in-Time Count results are in. For the first time in five years, homelessness in Tulsa did not increase. 1,443 of our neighbors were experiencing homelessness on the night of January 22, 2026 — and 77% of them were indoors, connected to shelter and services. Unsheltered homelessness dropped by 31.7%.

That progress belongs to this community.

We set a goal of 1,000. We exceeded it.

In 2025 alone, AWH4T partners placed more than 1,100 individuals experiencing homelessness into stable housing — a 28% increase from 2024.
