Why do we keep deporting people who have done everything right? Thank you, Lynn Minden, for speaking out about José. He served as assistant minister at the Lutheran church in South Tulsa. He came here legally from Venezuela as a refugee, found a home in South Tulsa, helped his community, paid taxes, and did everything right. He was arrested at his immigration hearing before having the opportunity to apply for citizenship. 80% of the immigrants being deported are Christians. The majority of these immigrants have broken no laws, pay taxes, and are doing critical work in their communities.
An assisting minister at his Lutheran congregation in south Tulsa, the asylum seeker was deported to Venezuela on April 17 after his regular ICE check-in appointment.
