For many veterans, hardship begins with a single moment. After moving to Tulsa, Army veteran and single father Gavin Thorenson was involved in an accident that left him without transportation, creating a major barrier for both him and his son.

Through the partnership of Soldier’s Wish and Heroes Hope, that need was fully met. With the generosity of the Guiver Family and Swift Collision, Gavin received a vehicle, along with repairs, new tires, and additional support to help him move forward with stability.

This is what it looks like when relief and restoration work together, preventing crisis before it begins.

Army veteran Matthew Helms and his service dog, Royal, recently received support through Soldier’s Wish after Royal was diagnosed with a torn ACL and needed surgery.

Thanks to the generosity of Broken Arrow Veterinary Hospital, Royal was able to undergo surgery and is now home recovering well. We are incredibly grateful to their team for heavily discounting the procedure and helping care for this veteran and his loyal companion.

Service dogs play a vital role in the lives of many veterans, and we are proud to have helped support Royal on his road to recovery. 🇺🇸

Sean Goins’ connection to the mission of Soldier’s Wish comes from lived experience.

After serving in the United States Army and navigating difficult personal challenges following his medical retirement, Sean found a renewed sense of purpose through serving other veterans and their families.

Today, as Program Outreach Director, he works directly with veterans across the country, helping meet needs, build relationships, and create meaningful impact through every wish granted.

Sean’s story is a powerful reminder of why this mission matters and the importance of making sure veterans never feel alone in the challenges they face.

Soldier’s Wish was honored to support the Youth On Guard Memorial Foundation during their Memorial Day Weekend vigil and ceremonial wreath laying in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Through this wish, Soldier’s Wish helped provide marketing and recruitment materials, signage, outreach resources, and meals for cadets and volunteers participating throughout the weekend. These efforts helped support Youth On Guard’s mission of preserving remembrance through discipline, service, and ceremonial honor inspired by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

We were also proud to see our Board Vice Chair, Mark Tedford, participate in the ceremonial wreath laying alongside the dedicated youth participants who carried the vigil throughout the weekend.

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting the mission of Youth On Guard and the next generation committed to honoring those who gave their lives in service to our nation. 🇺🇸

Army veteran Christopher Meyer is pursuing IT at OSUIT, but his laptop could no longer keep up with his coursework.

Soldier’s Wish was able to provide him a new laptop, removing that barrier and helping him move forward with confidence.

Most organizations specialize in either relief or restoration, but real impact happens when both work together. Through the alignment of Soldier’s Wish and Heroes Hope, we’re able to do exactly that, combining immediate support with long-term stability.

Relief allows us to step in quickly and prevent a crisis, while restoration ensures veterans have the support they need to rebuild and move forward. Together, this creates a more complete and effective model of care.
