The District is currently performing wide-area larvaciding spraying in the late evening and early morning hours in the following neighborhoods in the City of Tulare:

*Northeast, North and part of Northwest Del Lago
*Tulare Union High School neighborhood to the south bordered by O Street and Sonora and south to MLK Blvd.
*The area to the west, northwest and north of Alpine Vista School
*MidValley Avenue west of Mooney Blvd
*Northeast of Costco in Visalia, south of Caldwell and west of Court

We are applying Vectobac WDG, a product that presents no danger to warm blooded animals (including humans and pets).
Our goal is to reach front and back yards with this product that will help control the Aedes Aegypti, this is the new day-biting mosquito causing havoc for our constituents. We normally perform operations of this when wind conditions are optimum to help carry the product over a wide area hoping to reach small containers where this mosquito is populating. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about how, why, when and what we are applying. Please see our website at www.tularemosquito.com for a schedule of this late-night spraying as well as a Safety Data Sheet for the product we are applying.

With the recent spring rains followed by warm weather comes many opportunities for mosquito breeding. DUMP all standing water in your yards WEEKLY. Scrub the inside walls of flower pots with bleach on a regular basis as well. There is a plethora of mosquito activity happening right now and most of the time people do not realize they are creating their own problems. DUMP AND CLEAN! Protect yourself and your family- wear long sleeved shirts and long pants to diminish the opportunities mosquitoes have to bite you. Also wear Mosquito Repellent - preferably those containing DEET. Read and follow the label.

To our constituents who reside in the area bordered by Mooney Blvd and Avenues 256, 264 and Road 124: We are aware of the mosquito problem going on at this time and the District is using all available resources to alleviate the issue. These mosquitoes (Aedes Nigromaculis) are a flood water breeding mosquito. They are vicious daytime biters and a major nuisance however they DO NOT carry any viruses. We are currently doing all we can to control the mosquitoes and as the days pass you should notice the populations waning. This species of mosquito has a relatively short life span and within a week or two you shouldn't notice any significant populations remaining. In the mean time you can call us at 686-6628 should you have any questions. We are open from 6am until 3:30 pm. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and will do everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again.
