Holladay Fine Arts Magnet Elementary School

Holladay Fine Arts Magnet Elementary School Holladay’s magnet program provides students with a rigorous, fine arts integrated academic experience What makes Holladay unique?

Students at Holladay Fine Arts Magnet Elementary School enjoy a rigorous academic program that follows Arizona’s College and Career Readiness Standards. Our program fully integrates the academics with the Fine and Performing Arts daily. We use thematic units and projects to incorporate students’ learning with dance, visual arts, drama, and technology for three hours every day. Holladay students se

e the Performing Arts specialist twice a week for 30 to 45 minutes each session. One session the students use the piano keyboard lab and the other session is on our performance stage learning dance, drama, and songs. Students will also see our Visual Arts specialist once a week from 45 to 1 hour 10 minutes depending on the projects the students are learning and developing. Our classroom teachers also use music, singing, dance, acting, and visual arts in their rooms throughout the day. Our students leave Holladay having the opportunity to share many academic and artistic experiences. What is a Fine and Performing Arts Magnet? Holladay School offers performing, and visual arts to every child every week. While teachers strive to help their students achieve academic excellence, these same children also get the chance to excel in the arts. All students are part of a musical production during the year, singing, acting, and dancing. Every child learns to play the piano in our piano keyboard lab. Every student gets the chance to create visual works of art in the art studio. . These unique programs continue after school with our free extended day program. Learning is just more fun at Holladay. Tell me more about the Performing Arts opportunities. The Fine Arts program at Holladay is an active and integral part of each child’s school day at Holladay, as they learn the Fine Arts curriculum outlined by the district, state, and nation. All students are exposed to the Visual and Performing Arts throughout the school year on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. In the Performing Arts, students experience music, dance, and drama. They learn basic music, drama, and dance elements and they learn how to play the piano keyboard in our piano keyboard lab- the only one of its kind in TUSD. Our school also gives young performers many opportunities to appear on stage. Every year each grade level presents a musical production in which students sing, dance, and act. Holladay continually showcases students in the performing arts. Our chorus and dance teams rehearse after school four days a week and perform all year long at our school as well as other events around Tucson. Instrumental music instruction further enhances our students’ intellectual growth and student soloists often perform at special events. The Visual Arts play an important role in our daily curriculum and in all the productions as students help to create needed scenery, props, and costumes. Students get to have their own artwork displayed during the year in our art gallery as well as throughout the community. Tell me more about the Visual Arts opportunities. The visual art program at Holladay is a rigorous program that is formulated around the stages of child development and the Arizona’s College and Career Readiness Standards for the Visual Arts. It is a program in which the students develop the technical skills needed to successfully use a variety of media along with the compositional skills that will better enable them to communicate through visual art. While developing the aforementioned skills the students are also exposed to the historical and societal aspects of the visual arts as well as learning the skills necessary to be able to critique their own work and that of others. Our program accomplishes these lofty goals while being entirely project based which results in the students having wonderful and varied art experiences that produce an end product. The art assignments have a close relationship with the learning that is going on in the regular classroom and most often the art assignment correlates with not only topics discussed in class but academic skills relating to math, social studies and language. The students in any given art class are given an art assignment and they have to problem solve their way through several steps in order to complete the work. The skills needed and developed in art class are, goal setting, prioritizing, sequencing, estimating, comparing, contrasting, selecting, interpreting visual data, time management, and self evaluation. What does your FREE afterschool program consist of? We understand that parents/guardians are working more than ever, and with the rising cost of afterschool care, many are put into financially stressful situations. Holladay Magnet School is here to help!! We offer a FREE (yes, FREE) afterschool program! This vibrant and varied program offers many classes every day of the week. These include piano keyboarding, Visual Arts, chorus, award winning sport teams (basketball and Track & Field), gardening and landscaping, jazz and modern dance, and computer learning in literacy and math as well as small group tutoring in reading and math for those students who need the extra help. Students can choose two different classes to attend each afternoon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 2:45-4:15 PM. On Wednesdays, students can participate in Club Wednesday from 1:45-3:15 PM. Students can select a club to participate in from a selection including cooking, outdoor games, arts and crafts, folklorico, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Students extend their learning into the after school hours Monday through Friday with enriching and fun (and educational) activities that are taught by some of the best in Tucson. Mission statement

Holladay is a school where people of many cultures learn, work and play in a safe and caring environment, where the skills, talents, abilities and languages of all children are developed. Our school is a place where children of different ethnic groups get to know each other as friends and classmates. They will leave Holladay having the opportunity to share many academic and artistic experiences.

🎮✨ Learning comes to life in 3rd grade!

Our students combined art, game design, and grade-level math standards to create their own interactive games using “if-then” instructions. Through hands-on, cross-curricular learning, students build creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills every day.
Come see how we inspire learners to create, innovate, and succeed! ❤️🎨

❤️🖤🤍❤️🖤community, creativity, and partnership🤍

Our neighbors at Innovation Tech High School were given a creative challenge: to represent the meaning of community through a physical artistic symbol. Their incredible answer was this beautiful Buddy Bench, now proudly placed at our school.

A Buddy Bench is a special place where students can sit if they’re feeling left out, looking for a friend, or simply needing connection. It’s a reminder that no one has to feel alone and that kindness and inclusion matter every day.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Innovation Tech High School for this thoughtful gift and meaningful partnership. Special thanks to for the physical construction of the bench and to the Innovation Tech High School team for bringing this vision to life.

We are so grateful for this lasting symbol of friendship, belonging, and community here at Holladay! Belonging Partnership

Let’s celebrate Ms. Julia Palomarez as she begins her well deserved retirement.A proud Holladay graduate, it is especially meaningful that Ms. Julia is concluding her time with TUSD in the very place where her journey began. As a custodian, grandmother, PTO leader, grandparent club initiator, garden club moderator and caring presence, she dedicated years to creating a safe and welcoming environment for generations of Holladay students and families.

Ms. Julia, thank you for your dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our school community. Holladay is better because of you, and your legacy will live on for years to come. Please join us in wishing Ms. Julia joy and blessings in retirement. Once a Redhawk, always a Redhawk. ❤️🌹♾️
