Tomorrow’s council meeting will not have a final vote on the Riggins Property Development. More changes will be added to the document that the city wants to add/require of the developer which will change the language enough to make tomorrow’s meeting a first reading only. The earliest possible date for a final vote on this will be June 23rd. As always, I will keep the public informed as things evolve. This rendering is conceptual in nature at the land use stage and is not a final document.

📣 A Message About the Trussville Entertainment District

For years now, the Trussville Entertainment District has been one of our community’s gathering places. A place to enjoy live music, support local businesses, grab dinner, and spend time with family and friends. We want it to continue to be exactly that.

Unfortunately, over time we have seen an ongoing pattern of issues within the district that continue to be reported by business owners, staff, on-site personnel, and citizens. Despite posted signage and established rules, we continue to experience repeated problems involving:

🚭 Smoking in prohibited areas
🏈 Throwing footballs and games that create safety concerns for patrons
🥤 Outside coolers, cups, and beverages being brought into the district
🚧 Climbing, jumping on, or misusing public furniture and tables
👮 Disrespectful behavior toward staff and security personnel

I want to be candid with you: I would much rather allocate police resources elsewhere in our community. However, due to the ongoing nature of these issues, coupled with repeated complaints from staff, businesses, and citizens…we are at a point where we must address them more directly.

To help ensure everyone can safely enjoy the district, additional enforcement efforts are now taking place.

Please understand:

✅ Follow the posted rules
✅ Respect district staff and on-site security personnel
✅ Help us keep the space safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone

Parents, we ask for your help as well. The district is not a playground, and while we absolutely want families downtown, we need everyone helping us maintain an environment that is safe and respectful for all patrons.

Failure to follow district rules or comply with directions from staff/security will result in removal from the district and potential bans from returning.

We appreciate those of you who already follow the rules and help make downtown Trussville a great place to gather. Your cooperation matters and helps us continue offering events, live music, and an experience we can all be proud of.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

It's final! Exactly ten years after winning the first state championship in program history, Hewitt-Trussville Baseball has done it again!

The Huskies defeated the Auburn Tigers 8-0 to complete a two-game sweep in the AHSAA Class 7A State Championship Series. The Blue Map is coming home to Trussville—or should we say, Titletown?

If you're keeping score, that's two state championships in one day.

And just like softball, Hewitt-Trussville Baseball has once again proven itself to be the standard in Alabama.

!

Go Huskies!!! Congratulations to these incredible athletes!!

Go Huskies!!! Congratulations to these incredible athletes!!

The Huskies have done it again!

Capping a 49-10-1 season, the Hewitt-Trussville Softball Team completed a dramatic 2-1 victory in the AHSAA Class 7A State Championship Game at Jacksonville State University this morning—a continuation of last night's game, which was rain-delayed until today.

The Huskies' Blue Map for 2026 will now join their other state championship trophies from 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024.

The consultant team for the new comprehensive plan created a virtual workshop for community members who could not attend either the in-person Opening Presentation and Mapping Exercise held on April 16, 2026, or the Community Ideas Exchange Workshop held on May 7, 2026. The virtual workshop provides additional opportunities to be heard in a way organized around the same mapping exercise and survey stations used at the two in-person events.

The virtual workshop is geared to be a digital-twin of the two in-person events to the greatest extent possible. Feedback from the website will be combined with input from the two in-person events for reporting. You can access the workshop activities by clicking the “virtual workshop” button on the blue banner on the home page of our website:

https://www.futuregenplan.com/

Then be sure to click the ten "participate" buttons in the boxes underneath the photo from our live event to access the mapping exercise and all the station exercises created for the virtual workshop. You can always come back to the landing page for the virtual workshop by hitting the "Return to List of Survey Stations" link (in red text) at the bottom of each station survey.

You can start and stop in the virtual workshop as you wish. Some participants decide to complete the mapping exercise and all nine stations in one sitting. Others complete them over multiple visits.

The virtual workshop will close on May 26, 2026, so the consultant team has enough time to combine the input received from both the in-person and virtual events.

Please share this message with your friends, family members, social circles, co-workers, etc. to get the word out and maximize the input we receive for the new Trussville Comprehensive Plan v. 2.0.
